Is there a mining software that can be installed and run on top of Windows?

Thanks!

If you're talking about bitcoin mining (since you're in the bitcoin mining subforum), then yes, there is software you can use to create sha256d hashes of block headers... However, i won't post a link to any of these tools since you will burn a lot of power (and possibly your pc) and gain nothing in return.
In my latest calculations, i found that an i7 mines at a maximum of 66 Mh/s. At current diff, block reward and BTC price, mining 24/7 at 100% cpu load will give you $0.03/year in BTC.
To make these 3 cents, you'll need to run a desktop with an i7 at 100% load 24/7 for a full year... Think about the power you'll burn and the fact that you will have to sacrifice a perfectly good pc to do nothing but mining...

Both CPU and GPU mining have been obsolete for many years now. If you want to mine bitcoin, you need super-cheap power and you'll need to invest in a latest gen ASIC.

If you have a decent GPU, you might try your luck with altcoin mining, in this case it would be best to re-ask your question in the altcoin mining subforum.

Good luck!

thanks for the swift response.

so, building a rig with what Im thinking is not possible since the hazard and low ROI.
If bitcoin will be my path, what is my best way to invest and get involved?

If you're talking about bitcoin mining, then yes, you simply can not ROI (let alone make any profit whatsoever) by building a CPU/GPU rig. It's not just a hazard and low ROI, it's basically throwing a perfectly good machine away for 0 income.

If you build a mutli GPU rig, you can ROI on altcoins, but i can't really give you any advice about that. People in the altcoin mining subforum however, will probably be able to point you in the correct direction.

IF you decide to start mining bitcoins, first calculate everything:
  • the total cost of your farm : initial purchasing cost of the ASIC(s), the repair costs (bitmain, the vendor that sells the most efficient miners only has 3 months of guarantee), the S&H, the income tax, the shelves, the cooling, the PSU's, the wiring,...
  • the total cost of your power bill (an S9 draws about 1400 Watts)

In the end, the break-even point for me is around a power cost of 10 cents/Kwu. If your power costs more, i wouldn't take the risk to start mining bitcoin. If your power is less, you *might* mine profitable (if you by the right ASIC and all other parameters are OK)

You can use Minergate and Nice hash miner to mine bitcoin and some altcoins. However mining using miner software in the computer will not be able to get money you spare for the electricity and all too.
CGminer and Bitminter are also the best client software to mine bitcoins. You will be find default network pool to mine any coins.

A laptop usually doesn't have a very good GPU, so you're more or less bound to cpu minable altcoins... They do exist, but most of them aren't worth much.
Also, a laptop usually doesn't handle a large load for a long time as well as a desktop usually does, so the chance of damaging your laptop by CPU mining is larger than CPU mining on a desktop.

Buddy, the best thing is to use minergate software and mine monero in your PC. Otherwise if you have gpu, you can use that to mine. Or if you are mining for fun or timepass you can use coinpot.co or faucethub.io sites to mine some btc. These sites use coinhive software to mine monero and they pay you a specified amount of btc for each accepted hash. When it reaches the minimum withdrawal threshold, you can transfer the balance to faucethub account.

I also agree not to agree to do the mining via laptop or pc.
although there are some software that support mining in computer, such as minerGate, monero, cgminer, etc.
But with high computer spec and monthly maintenance cost, electricity, etc. Is it worth the result? certainly not.

Yes. microsoft has developed but that run only window 8.1 and window 10.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5zfyoG-IW4&t=187s

This is wrong at some many levels... The video shows an SCRYPT miner, not an sha256d miner. So, even if the software was legit, it cannot be mining bitcoins.

Also, at 2,6 kh/s, you won't make anything, even IF the software was using the correct algorithm.

Sorry to tell you, but if you're going to mine bitcoin, you'd have to buy at least an antminer S7 or avalon 6 or 741 (if you're going to mine with these ASIC's you need allmost free electricity to break even tough), but the antminer S9 is still the one with the best performance (still, you need cheap electricity).

None of these devices are cheap... If you pay to much for your power, even with the S9, you'll mine at a loss.

Still the antminer s9 bit expensive than avalon or s7 miners. There should need of high electricity consumption since the s9 hash rate and over clock is higher than other asic miners.
Solar or hydro energy miners PSU will be good for the people who are worry to bear the high electricity cost for mining.
