You can get the Bitcoin gold if you have the private key to your wallet. The older accounts had the ability to create a backup of the private key for their online wallets whereas the newer accounts don't have that facility I think. If you have the private key then you can download any wallet that supports Bitcoin gold and then get the BTG by putting the private key in it. But most probably blockchain doesn't support BTG so it's kind of tough to say whether you will be able to get the BTG or not.

you can not do that NOW. because the code is not ready, there is no wallet, there is no blockchain, there is no mining,.... you have to wait about another month until all of these are completed and then recover your BTG that you had on block #491407

or you should have deposited your bitcoin on an exchange like yobit and sold that shit at 0.19BTC Grin

Buying the dip...

How can you withdraw bitcoin gold when you know it doesn't exist on networks yet?
It is still 24 hours till the bitcoin gold fork is  estimated to happen and after it finishes, blockchain will then anounce how to take it out from you wallet.
What i think is that blockchain will simply ask you to move your bitcoins to any supportive wallet and there you will be able to withdra it.

As far as I know, no bitcoin gold wallet has been released yet. If possible, you should hold your coins until one is, because without replay protection, if you send 1 BTC to someone with a bitcoin wallet, you'll also send your 1 BTG to them as well.

So basically we shouldn't do any BTC transaction until further instructions from the BTG team is what I understand ?

all above are true but the plan was never to "release" bitcoin gold on October 25, apparently!

the thing that was passed (block 491,407) was only taking the snapshot of bitcoin's blockchain so that they can fork on top of it. now the second part begins which is the 16000 blocks premine of bitcoin gold. and that should take a good long time. even if they do something different about the premine, the code is not yet ready.

So basically we shouldn't do any BTC transaction until further instructions from the BTG team is what I understand ?

not at all. replay protection will eventually be ready for BTG at some point. and with it there won't be a problem about BTC transactions being replayed. besides worst case scenario is you losing BTG not BTC!

Ff. I store my btc on an exchange where I don't have access to my privatekey. If I send my coins now to a wallet which I have the privatekey, will I still have bitcoingold coins to claim once it's released tomorrow?

no because the plan was to take a snapshot of block 491,407 (it is always the block height that matters not the date and time) and that is already done (we are at block 491,440 now) so unless Bitcoin Gold team changes their mind and plans, you are out of luck.

No you can send any amount of btc to anyone that will not take you off your right on bitcoin gold. The snapshot has been taken before the said block transactions in the following blocks don't matter.

The issue is, a transaction on the BTC chain is also valid on the BTG chain, meaning it will get confirmed on both sides, even after the split actually happened. This also means that if someone sends you BTC after the split you might also get BTG from them without them realizing that they sent it. Unlike BCH, BTG lacks protection against this exploit, which is called a replay attack.

Check out this article for more details, just think BTG instead of BTU. It may sound too weird to be true, but currently, it is true.

That's too bad then. I forgot to send my bitcoins last night and only sent it this morning. I missed out on BCH and now this.  Sad

It depends on what exchange you keep your btc. Because mostly exchanges credited bch to their users previously, same will be with btg. Anyway, it's not good idea to keep all btc on exchange, unless you are trading it.

You should read official announcements from the blockchain.info blog.
Eventually, blockchain.info will enable the withdrawal or exchange of bitcoin gold coins. Just as Bitcoin cash has been enabled recently.
But, if you want access to Bitcoin gold right away (once the Bitcoin gold wallet is available) only thing you will need to do is import your private keys into a new wallet. You can do this at any time after the fork, nothing will be lost. And yes, you can export private keys from blockchain.info wallet (whether it is an old or new wallet is irrelevant, new type of wallets will give you a recovery phrase and by using that you can get your private keys)
