My guess is they run off with it.

That would be an unfortunate end to this endeavour. They seem to have put a lot of time and planning into it though, so hopefully they pull through.

Just being realistic. In this day and age can you trust anyone with your Bitcoins?

Everyone I know is paranoid about every Bitcoin service out there I'm surprised Bitcoins is even as popular as it is because of this and I believe this is why will bring Bitcoin down everyone's paranoia.

Interesting, but this is obviously to make a profit, to think otherwise is a little naive.

But anything promoting the use of BTC is good in my book.  Grin

What kind of promotion? Do you think any normal couple will use a non stable currency to run their life???
That's stupidity and they are scammers and attention whores, nothing else.

This would be a pretty elaborate scam, and if they used their real names in that video then they'll be easily found and harassed. This gives them incentive to complete the project.

Bigger supporters have emerged. They have over 150 bitcoins now (700 needed). It's starting to look good. Their project has received significant media coverage in the US.

They have clarified the rules of the Life on Bitcoin project. Good reading.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bitcoinlife/life-on-bitcoin-a-documentary-film/posts/511835

Our company is backing this project with 2.5 bitcoins. Personally I put in 0.5 bitcoins. It's starting to look good, they already have half of the money they need. $35k funded, $35k left before they reach their goal. Over 3 weeks left.

i really like this adventure they are doing, it will be great if this was live footage lol. Also if anyone wants to sponsor them and advertise their website or service this is the perfect place to do it.

I've met them personally, we have some mutual friends, and I was actually just featured on their blog.  I wish them the best of luck, even though they reached the Kickstarter goal, I would still contribute because the more money they get the more difficult things they are going to try to accomplish, traveling for example.

Best of luck to Austin and Beccy!

For whoever is interested: http://www.facebook.com/LifeOnBitcoin

In my opinion the documentary could be a very good opportunity to see people trying to live theur daily life exclusively on bitcoins. I'm sure it will have a good media coverage which cannot be anything bad for Bitcoin.

For those who donated, did you get e-mail confirmations? I did a donation (BTC one), but have yet to receive anything.  Huh

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's.
This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

These guys are up to 778 BTC. Today, that's around $77,000 USD. That should get them through a couple months at a minimum.

This is an interesting experiment, and I look forward to seeing how it unfolds.

A couple of months?  Hell, $77k is more than enough for newlyweds to live on for a year.

Yeah, $77,000 is more than enough for "a couple of months" for sure.
