I guess I'm a Newbie so I have to post this here. -----------------------------------------------
I am considering building a GPU Mining rig (Yes i know about ASICs). My question is....
How much is a Nvidia GTX-680 over a Diamond AMD 7950? Is there a better graphics card I should be looking at to build a GPU mining rig? Can either of there cards be linked together? for instance... if I want to buy another card of the same type in the future.
And what type of cooling would be good?
Thanks in advance, de704

What do you mean by "How much over"? And try water cooling, it's a little more expensive but works if it gets too hot.

AMD cards are better for mining than NVIDIA cards they get more hashes.

Here is a List which compares the newest AMD Cards`Hashrates: (Scroll down to Graphic Cards and watch "Common MH/s" (=Mhash/second)) https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparisonGood luck with mining

There is no need for connecting the cards together (crossfire) you just need to put them in the pci-express slots and plug the power cables in and your set. I would recommend the 7950.

You'll get the same hashrate on Windows 7 or a Linux distro. I have one of each, they both do fine once you set drivers up.

Air cooled 7950s are the way to go. You'll need PCI-E risers if you want to put more than 3 onto any reasonably priced motherboard.
