Hi All, Some dickcheese stole a lot of money from me. (this is only part of it). The other part is being investigated by another party already. Here is the current Bitcoin wallet. The funds got into this wallet after being moved out of ETH into BTC at Shapeshift. Last known location of funds: https://btc.com/1MHpbX54TitPe4rnCMJV7BpY8FrDjwMdzxI'm offerring a $25,000 USD reward to anyone smart enough to track this person down. There has to be a historic transaction linking him to something, somehow or a future move this person makes that may help us identify them. I'll pay the reward to anyone who can provide me with enough evidence to identify this person to law enforcement. God Speed.

I am soo sorry man. This is terrible. I hope someone can be able to help even though I have yet to hear of someone get their stolen funds back. 13 Bitcoins is no small amount. I can imagine how devastated you must be. Do you know how you got compromised? It might be a good exercise to trace your steps back so as to prevent this from happening again.

That's only a fraction of what was stolen
Someone targeted me specifically by editing my hosts file and redirecting myetherwallet.com to a local copy of the site. Probably someone close to me.
We are following several leads.

https://www.myetherwallet.com/ is very dangerous, better use metamask or any other ether wallet like parity where you can protect yourself from phishing attack, I believe https://www.myetherwallet.com/ is the most phished website right now really sorry for the loss hope you still be able to gain back confidence to get back that amount from trading or anything

If it's been stolen no one will be able to help you unless you contact the authorities and get them to look into the situation and hopefully the hacker slipped up some where.

I really wish i could render some degree of assistance to you towards getting basck your stolen bitcoin but then i believe if it is located or traced to any exchanger, you should do well to contact the exchanger with the all the relevant transaction hash to proof your claim. thats the best i can advice.

Security is a huge issue in crypto currency, because as a individual it is up to you to keep your funds safe. You should check out my video on safety : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_e9zKlqngA&t=1s Rules to live your life on: Dont ever click links that direct you to a wallet Set up security on your wallet etc With anything over $10k you should really have a device you dont use to hold your coins. I hope you can find your money, that is a lot to lose. Keep us updated

How much money have you lost in your wallet? I do not think anyone can get this person because all the information on the forum and the market is fake and not real so you will never find him while you spend 250004 to Looking for a thief, I do not believe this is the truth, you are trying to fabricate this money

I check the last known wallet where funds are with wallet explorer, a website that links addresses to the wallets just to give you a clue but it was only used recently as address and it doesn't show up there.
I am afraid you cannot do much if the thief is an expert at bitcoin, he can use bitcoin mixers to mix different amounts, he can use gambling websites to mix different other amounts. Creating wallets its free so I am sorry for your loss but not much you can do.

How did the funds get stolen from this transaction. I assume you made this transaction and thief intercepted? A bit more detail will help those that are capable of tracking this "dickcheese" down.
Regarding phishing attacks, they do require the victim to click or bite, yeah? Or have they gotten more sophisticated? Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like a very sophisticated attack and probably an inside job of sorts. I hope law enforcement or a white hat who finds your post can offer assistance to you and bring this hacker to justice. Hopefully you still have other funds for investing or plenty left untouched.

You're right, they require you to click a link, you'll be redirected to a scam site (for example a site looking similar to mew), and when you login or fill in the required info they'll steal everything you've got.

You need to be root (=admin) to be able to edit hosts file, so it is probably someone who has access to your machine. I have not heard of any remote malware that can do that. (probably some does exist though.)Edit: I thought that hosts file exists only in linux, but apparently windows has one too. If you use linux the above comment stands, but not in windows. Normally when bitcoins are stolen they are difficult to get back, because the thief could be in another country, where your country's law can't touch them.

And for OP even though how big the reward is, we know that bitcoin/ETH transactions aren't reversible. If you know that someone whos close to you, you have to make your own investigation.
