My personal take on it is that Bitcoin may actually be harmed if the authorities catch up with Satoshi Nakamoto. I think we all saw the crap that Dorian Nakamoto had to go through when he got fingered as the creator of Bitcoin. They could conceivably wring all sorts of false "confessions" out of him if they are determined enough to discredit Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto's reasoning behind creating Bitcoin.

His Identity should not be revealed not because it may harm the price of bitcoin but for his personal security.
Imagine what some people are going to do to him or his family if they found out who he is. He will be surely forced to create btc for them.

As for me personally, an investor with a small capital - it does not matter who. However, for the government of countries that are against it because they do not earn money on taxes on the poor, it is important.

It may be damaging to Nakamoto themselves, but to an ordinary user I doubt it would be.
They could conceivably wring all sorts of false "confessions" out of him if they are determined enough to discredit Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto's reasoning behind creating Bitcoin.
It could certainly receive a lot of publicity and pop some bubbles in the BTC price, but I feel like a lot of BTC discussion media are so polarised in support of BTC that it would only strengthen their resolve.  It just depends whether you're a lay man or whether you take an active interest.

Regardless, I don't think that the media are out to get satoshi particularly.  There's no point in governments arresting them either, because satoshi can't control BTC or alter it.

If we do not find satoshi nakamoto means you will not try to access the bitcoin with the patent right. If any whales knows about the bitcoin inventor satoshi they will surely contact him to reserve the copyright and patent. Until the Satoshi does not revealed himself none of the people will have the bitcoin controlled by anyone. This is the only reason he is comes out to the on show.

I don't think so. The last 6-7 years without him proved that this experiment can be carried on by his trusted developers and attract quite a large crowd of peers and supporters. His identity isn't really important by now but rather his access to his rumored 1m coins since it could be a game changer and could be really controversial since he can just dump on everyone of us and have a good laugh about it.

I would prefer if he remained anonymous and he should for his own sake. If he gets discovered i'm sure there will be people willing to target him personally to influence the price. Think what would happen if somebody managed to destroy his image. For instance if they placed child porn on his PC and made a big deal out of it screaming from the headlines that the creator of BTC is a pedophile. The agencies would very much like him gone and even better, working for them.

I honestly don't think it matters who Satoshi Nakamoto was. Sure it would be nice to know but it's not necessary. All that matters is the legacy he/she or they left behind which was Bitcoin.

Has it mattered who he is up to this point?

His identity really doesnt matter in the grand scheme of things. while I think a large part of the community would defer to his wishes to a point, if he is alive there is a reason why he hasnt really said anything after all these years, and after all the developments. what DOES matter if is he, she, it or they is still alive and able to access the private keys of those massive wallets. the fact that the coins havent moved instills a lot of trust in the community; if or when they do, I think we will see a bit of panic selling, unless this occurs much later in the lifespan of bitcoin. but Satoshi is mortal, and probably middle aged or old. doubt he would survive that long if he is still alive.

We should thank him for the great source he created for us.  Many lives have been changed. Personally speak,  even if the govt is against BTC in few countries, the authority individual may try earning from bitcoins, who knows.  We bitcoin earners should support the founder and his creation by enhancing its growth.

I think it matters a little. First because he could actually become an important leader to unify the bitcoin community. Wee keep seeing these forks, some of them not handled very well, like segwit2x. So his opinion would be very important since he was the creator of bitcoin. I know bitcoin is decentralized, but that doesn't mean that the devs shouldn't try to be united.

There is of course the huge amount of coins he holds (1.5m if I'm not mistaken). That is a huge amount of coins, and whatever he plans on doing with them (spend, burn, hold, wtv) would have a huge impact on it's price.

Satoshi didn't want Bitcoin to be strongly influenced by a few persons, even by himself or other developers, and Bitcoin was designed to be based on community consensus. Sure, there will be some panic if Satoshi will get arrested by authorities or will start moving his coins, but there's nothing that can cause a long term damage - there is no master keys or backdoors. As for your scenario, no one will believe any forced "confessions", and Satoshi is not actively influential so again, it won't kill Bitcoin.
