If you are trying to mine bitcoins: dude, what do you expect! A single block reward is 25 BTC, worth over € 2000. You think you will just somehow magically earn that kind of money by leaving your PC on for a few nights? Wake up Smiley

Forget about mining bitcoins, just buy them. It's faster, easier, cheaper, and better for the environment Smiley

And preferably use a different exchange than MtGox (nothing particularly wrong with MtGox but others are cheaper, faster, and more diversity and competition is better for the Bitcoinomy).

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Basically, what the others said. Mining takes a long time, even with decent hardware.

You can also join some of the free giveaways/lotteries around here or even check out free BTC faucets.

None of it will make you rich though... basically "it takes money to make money."

This. If you think Bitcoin is some kinda magical "get rich quick" scheme, think again. The real world doesn't work that way Smiley

Bitcoin is absolutely awesome, and holds wonderful promises for the future, but they're mostly about freedom, independence, fair money, convenience, rather than 'getting rich'.

In theory, there's no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

you have to place an empty leather purse on top of the PC, the bitcoins will materialize inside it after one week.

Right
And a Bitcoin client will make no bitcoin, just keep them in safe

Such an incredible high amount of Bitcoins could only be handled by the legendary "Purse of Satoshi", crafted by the grand master Nakamoto itself. Lore has it, that this purse can be found in an ancient shrine at the foot of the highest mountain of Japan, where the master lives in a cave near the mountain peak.
