Yes it's a scam because they just grab some picture of a Japanese nationality and used it to include to their team. And with that move it's clear that they are shady, no matter how legit they are because they'll defend themselves for those pictures that are scattered through social media still they don't have any willingness to show their team or themselves. They have shady priorities on this project, don't invest.

They are scam and the fact is they are using someones identity just to make there team looks strong and after they've got busted for that act Ethconnect dev gone and feel guilty for that doing so we must be carefull on next time around since I'm so sure that ethconnect token creators will create another tokens just to continue there scammy act and it will be ridiculous if we will get scam by the scam ICO coins without proper reading and searching for there backgrounds.

Seems like a copy of bitconnect(another scam itself), however just reworded and reintegrated with ETH. There is absolutely nothing to this coin that is decentralized. Just like Bitconnect, it is most likely a ponzi scheme.

The value of the coin depends on the volatility software working - which is frankly, nonexistent.

Investing any kind of money into a ponzi will not pay off.

No one knows on where are the developers of ethconnect came from. Does your friend do have enough resource and proof if the whole ethconnect team came from Vietnam? You shouldn't make any claims if there is no appropriate proof for it. But what matters most now is just keep on avoiding this scam so that you'll be safe.
