An ethereum wallet to be exact.

I am currently using myetherwallet but it is an online wallet. I realized that it can also be safer if I will have a desktop wallet like the electrum wallet for bitcoin as an example where you can easily access your wallet anytime. Any recommendations? thank you!

Myetherwallet is a safe one if your computer is not infected by anything. You can also download the wallet on ethereum official website for ether based tokens. https://www.ethereum.org

yeah i agree, thats why most of the campaign here required myetherwallet before accepting participants for the security and safety of the coins when it was sent to the recipient.so i dont see any reason why your asking for desktop wallet.

You can use Exodus as a desktop wallet for Ethereum and for most of the altcoins and also Bitcoin. It is a multicurrency wallet, and you have control of your private keys. It has an easy and useful user interface, you can trade coins easily using shapeshifter prices. Exodus also have a good customer support, you can get fast answers to your tickets. Only bad thing is slightly high transfer and trade commissions in my opinion. You can not adjust transfer fees.

You can try to use ethereum symphony as the latest ethereum desktop wallet, and the size is really small compared with another ethereum desktop wallet such as mist or parity. you can try to find it in the ethereum github.

Why not use the official GUI wallet that is for ETH? Their latest version doesn't require you to sync to full node. It's still on beta though but I would say it's relatively safe and usable.

Does anyone here use Jaxx?  It's still good if you know how to secure your computer and as long as you store the wallet files somewhere else instead of your PC or laptop.  Jaxx keeps adding more ERC20 token capabilities to the wallet afaik.

And with Shapeshift already built in makes it more convenient to use.

I would feel safer if I move a part of my ethereum from myetherwallet to a desktop wallet. I know it's safe because I haven't experienced any hack but just to be sure. There are still some reports on hacked mew accounts.

Thank you! I am planning to make a desktop wallet on a safer computer that I often use. And its good because I can also store bitcoins together with other altcoins that I have.

I don't know about a good desktop wallet that supports all those tokens.
So, for desktop, I use metamask chrome extension, which easily integrates with Etherdelta.
I have a coinomi app in my phone.

You do not like to use myetherwallet wallet, I think there are solutions for you like this:
+ bitcoin is like a blogchain or coinbase are two types of online wallet for you if you regularly exchange coin types and need them to put your money on the coinbase trading platform not only for bitcoin that can If ethylene oxide is a long-lasting bitcoin, do not use it with a hard ledger. It is a hardcase for bitcoin.
+About the altcoin if you have them, on the homepage of the type of coin you are holding they offer the type of offline wallet for you to use them.

Have a look at https://www.exodus.io/

They are offering the most user friendly wallet out there and it's quite advanced and simple to use at the same time. They are adding various new tokens and therefore support a large array of newly launched projects, they have a list where they even tell you the date the expect new tokens to be included in the wallet. The wallet supports internal conversions (via Shapeshift) which means you can simply exchange one currency for another seamless, without having to leave the wallet and do extra steps. Please keep in mind, that Exodus should be consider a hot wallet, which means you should only have relatively small amounts in that wallet because it's prone to be hacked! Always keep your biggest stacks in offline wallets or cold wallets and make sure they are backed up properly.

One of the best and very easy to use desktop wallet for ethereum is Exodus and it also support Bitcoin and some altcoins like litecoin, doge, dash. But if you only want a desktop wallet for ethereum try using the official ethereum wallet called Mist with built in shapeshift and supports smart contracts.

Never had a problem with  myetherwallet  although I also like Waves Wallet, but that does not support ERC20 coins.

metamask is ok, the pros is that it can be used to trade directly in etherdelta, and 0x relayer likes radar and etc.
also you can use MEW (MyEtherwallet) with Trezor (hardware wallet) for more security.

I really like Exodus, even though I only use three of the alts it supports (ETH, LTC, DOGE) but it doesn't allow me to view tokens. And as I am now a WAVES holder, and I really like the layout, and it lets me see all the tokens I own, I'm slowly beginning to move to Waves. The Lite Wallet is just smooth, easy on the eyes and has a very nice portfolio layout that suits me well. MEW is probably still the best and most secure, in my opinion.

Yeah of course it's really different as they have different platform.

Just use wallet that let's you hold private keys so all your coins will be safe and secured. Or if you're holding huge coins you can use hardware wallet like ledger nano.
