Even though I would personally love to be spending BTC at Amazon, the number of people just hoarding their coins makes it a pretty insignificant payment option for them.
The CEO of Overstock has already said before that less than 1% of their payments are in BTC - notably, those who paid will BTC would probably willingly pay fiat as well, so the amount of demand for a BTC payment option is probably still insignificant from Amazon's perspective.
So if they did integrate it, the price would only shoot up speculatively, not from people trying to buy BTC that they would then spend at Amazon.

This has been the rumor for a long time now. We need some confirmation from Amazon first, it might drive the price up over the long term if other retailers and shops follow this move. But we will need to deal with the 2X fork confusion first

with the service Amazon is offering and the customer support (the best i've ever had to deal with hands down), this would be an AMAZON-ezing (shame on me for the joke) news. Screw all the paypal issues and slow processes, BTC would solve a lot of issue with payments, i really hope they'll go for that

Amazon accounts for more than 15% of all online retailer purchases so this will definitely shake things up. However there simply aren't enough Bitcoin users for this to be a viable option for Amazon. Then again it doesn't cost them anything to add Bitcoin as a payment option. I suppose we'll see how things unfold in the next few days.

I believe that Amazon's acceptance of Bitcoin can mean a lot in pushing the coin into the mainstream population as a real currency and not just a store of value (its main category right now). I hope that there can be a very credible lobby for Amazon to finally take a good look at Bitcoin and I am also hoping that once Amazon would be opening its door there would be many customers who will be using Bitcoin as the mode of payment. As the biggest e-commerce platform, Amazon can be a big game-changer for the cryptocurrency movement. One of the biggest obstacles many have seen why big retailers still have to join the bandwagon is its volatility rates which can be very wild at many times in a day but with proper infrastructure this thing can be tamed and properly mediated. Will Amazon finally give its much-needed in 2018? Let's cross our fingers...

There are a few companies that already have adopted bitcoin as a payment method like steam, windows and many others, and thier investemnt made a huge impact on the developpemnt and the progress of the bitcoin, which boosted the number of users and thus encouraging more investorers to take part in it, and with amazon accepting it not only it will make an impact on its price and developpemnt, but it will make our lives the bitcoin enthousiests more easier, because our problem is that we have bitcoin and can't find a direct way to use it for our daily needs, and with this the problem will be solved.

Possibilities can’t be denied when the news is good one for crypto community. If bitcoin can get down after news like China banning it then it could push itself further if the news says multi billion project like amazon is going to accept the bitcoin. Besides this bitcoin will get publicised more with new merchants accepting it and ultimately growing the investments into it. So for sure it’s well settled deal if it’s true news.

Everyone has been waiting for if a big company will start accepting bitcoin but by that time I doubt it that many will be willing to spend their bitcoin just for shopping. Everyone can just simply cash it out and use that cash for paying instead as the price of bitcoin is increasing we would love to keep on holding it because we are for the profit and we keep on saving for our better future.

Definitely a good news for us this means that there would be more investors or users to come. But there are some other ways that we could do to buy somethings using our bitcoin in the internet or some online shops .

I wonder if that is just for buyers, or if they will pay sellers as well. Amazon is a massive globalist company, and thus has an interest in fiat systems and their replacement by a world currency. If they can suck Bitcoins out of the market, and keep them as an investment, they will reduce the possibility of them being used as a trading medium, and make a massive profit from their speculation.

Yes, Amazon or eBay and all major e-commerce in the internet should be able to start this kind of transactions since a lot of people also has coins and tokens that can be used as money in exchange with the products.

I'm also thinking about your point that Amazon or e-commerce sellers and merchants should accept tokens or coins but Amazon will act like an exchange partner to every transaction.

This could be a double sided sword. I'm not sure how current throughput is ready for a large increase? But let's wait and see.

Is this what we need to make bitcoing 100k or more over next few years? https: //cointelegraph.com/news/more-rumors-amazon-could-accept-bitcoin-as-all-eyes-on-conference-call If that happens then not in few years but it would be in few months it will cross 100k because amazon is the worlds largest online market and you can imagine how much amazon market capatalisation will be.. so better to buy bitcoins before 100k

Since Amazon is a bubble. It will not help Bitcoin. Not in the slightest. Amazon is an entity that is waiting to go bankrupt. It is not earning anything. It is buying small companies and on a company buying spree. This is a dead company trying to remain relevant.

I agree that this, if it happens, could be a double-edged sword. But I think bitcoin in retail and ecommerce is how cryptocurrency's goal is fully in fruition. I can imagine now how many ebooks I can buy on Kindle!
