I came across a website which introduced a new distributed ledger theory than blockchain named Hashgraph. I couldn't make much of the article because I did not understand it. But I do think this could have massive effects on bitcoin and other altcoins if this comes into use.
Check the article here: . https://perc360.com/step-aside-blockchain-hashgraph-taking-over/  and let me know what you think.

Not sure if shilling, or this is genuine concern LOL.

There are about 32 of these any given day. Why would this one coin, which has infinitely less trust than bitcoin (or even 42 coin for that matter heh) completely disrupt an already disruptive technology; what innovation can really be provided be provided to improve on as simple of a concept as a distributed ledger?

And even if this did provide some novel innovation that hasnt been addressed yet, again how long and hard would it take for adoption to reach the levels that we have achieved with bitcoin? This isnt really that great of an adoption rate; if this coin will represent a fraction of that, good luck Wink

I saw someone also sharing that on social media. I haven't read the whole thing yet and this is the link that they've shared https://squawker.org/technology/blockchain-just-became-obsolete-the-future-is-hashgraph/

So for reading some information about it, that will be 50,000 times faster. And why not give it a try to learn this thing and it's good to be one of it's first adopter.

But I doubt that it will kill blockchain technology and bitcoin, I'll comment about my thought about this hashgraph after reading some articles about it.

Lol, part of what makes Bitcoin valuable is the PoW algorithm. It actually costs something (quite alot of somethings) to create a Bitcoin. That cost to the miner is what ensures he won't sell it on the market below what he paid for it and is a good way of determining that it has value. If you take away PoW, you take away the cost basis of the currency.

Ethereum's Casper protocol is quite interesting and we'll see how it plays out where expensive mining equipment isn't required anymore - just buy in to the system.

But if that is the only innovation here - then Ethereum and Neo already have it beat.

Just read this article also and got interested with swirlds Programming language to play with. Well, if this new innovation, I think it will take years for its rapid adaptation. Bitcoin is already quite popular and people will not abandoned it that easy.

Googled it, any website regarding hashgraph was inaccessible to me, first lol. hashgraph is patented but Bitcoin is not, though they are trying to register it as their own. second lol. I stopped my search after google returned "hashgraph ICO". third lol. if people could mine Bitcoin every 10 minutes by using 100 watts electricity, Bitcoin price would have been $0.01. it's not about transaction per second, we have already blockchains doing 1000 per second. Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency and it doesn't use "gossip". we don't gossip here, we just mine Bitcoin to jump girls later. fourth lol.

Sounds like shilling to me, this site is already down and the account that the person posted from is new. So I'm not going to think it's anything but shilling / flaming on the boards to try to gain some attention.

But back onto the point, Bitcoin can end -- but the Blockchain will live in as the technology is what Governments and Banks may and will probably end up using for certain things. As they're not going to reliquish their power to Bitcoin, but they will use the Blockchain as it won't hurt them (depending on the way they use it of course)

NO.

the link is dead OP. and besides by the previous replies over this topic I have concluded that this Hashgraph is going to be a crappy ICO just like the others.

If you start by saying you will take over something established, you can't be taken seriously. Do your thing, grow it some, prove its worth, then we'll talk.

It's like someone with an idea of a new operating system saying Bill Gates "step aside", everyone in the room will have a good laugh !

There can be various innovation in financial digital sector but even if there is a technology much better than blockchain and bitcoin it cannot erase and put the latter out of existence. Such as the fiat currency it will continue to exist even with cryptocurrency is already trending nowadays. It is not a matter of how advanced a technology is but it is a matter of trust and confidence that people dwell in such currency.

Exactly, perfectly, 100% wrong.

In my opinion, new innovations do not mean it is the end of another... bitcoins will stay here at least for the next century. Anyway, blockchain is beginning to attract more business usage nowadays, so I don't think it's going to end soon.

I think it cannot affect bitcoin even a blockchain era. Look now bitcoin is still rising it almost 6,000 USD. And how the newcomers take over a stable crypto in digital world. The fact they lunch new blockchain to avoid fluctuation of any coin. Once hashgraph lunch we will see what will be happen. Yes they offer a good platform but it necessarily bitcoin will erase of it and even the blockchain era.

Thanks for the link mate, looks impressive.

Yes, many will not just simply abandon bitcoin though there will be a lot of new tech's that will come out lately. A lot of people have invested big money to bitcoin including me, that's why there will be no end for bitcoin nor blockchain.

And another thing that many tech companies now are try to do start ups with blockchain.

thanks for sharing this. i am not an expert at all but i always find these new innovations very interesting to read.

we already know that blockchain technology is pretty cool and it offers a lot but it is not perfect. and just like any other technology there is always room for more innovation and improvement.
this was pretty interesting but it is not the first that plans on ending blockchain or bitcoin era. it will take a long time before something can do it for real though.

reading more about Hashgraph i am reminded of DAG. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directed_acyclic_graph
there are a couple of altcoins that are using DAG and the bitcoin era is not yet ended Wink

I'm not sure what information you got that made you so scared. There is absolutely nothing stopping the Blockchain and Bitcoin era now. There is too much accumulated hash power and more and more good actors joining the network to make it better.
