So my dad told me this story of one of his friends who had an old refrigerator that they were trying to get rid of. They put it on the street, and put a sign on it saying free refrigerator. After a few days, after no one had taken it, the friend said, I understand, they think its worthless. So he put a sign on it that said, refrigerator for sale, $50. The next day it was gone.

I bet we can relate this to bitcoins somehow:)

There's a similar story of a guy who was starting out selling software to government agencies.  Because he was selling it for $50,000 and not $5 million, everyone he talked to thought that it wasn't very good.  So, he raised the price, and then they started wanting it.

Most of those stories are variations from a book called Persuasion, by the research psychologist Robert Cialdini.
