If it's a small cap Alt coin most likely you'll need to use the wallet that comes with the particular coin you're interested in.

You are in the altcoin thread so it is more likely you will be using ERC20 coins which is under Ethereum.
You can use myetherwallet for that and etherdelta for trading.
If you are going to use under Waves you could use waveswallet.io
If others they have their own wallets which have websites for the download link of which OS you prefer.

According to your post and your account rank you are all new in these sphere of crypto currencies. I think the best one for you to begin from is a blockchain.info wallet (BTC and ETH, ETH support was added this month, but it does not support ERC20 coins) . It is one of the oldest and sustainable wallets, as I know it has never been hacked, so you do not need to worry about the security(+ it has a lot of security features like 2 factor authentication and others) . The interface is very simple, understandable and it has a mobile application. So, try it if you want.

I totally agree with him about the myetherwallet. It is one of the best ETH wallets. If you are going to receive, hold, control, send ERC20 tokens, this one is good.

Every coin has its own wallet.
You can't have NEO on myetherwallet for example.

So if you own ETH coins, you can use myetherwallet. it's an interface that communicates with the blockchain.
It doesn't store anything, there is just a link between you (your computer) and the blockchain.

For Bitcoin, you can use Electrum... etc
There are plenty of them, the code is generally the same, it's just the interface that is different. I suggest you to make some research on your own, if you don't wan't to throw away your money... The best thing is to use the recommended wallet of the coin that you own.

Just be carefull to click to the good links and don't use fishing wallet with wrong url that keep your passwords

All wallets are easy to use. Now Etherwallet is good. But some deficiencies are in this wallet. If the key lost by us or hack by others, than we lost all the coins.

if you are talking about altcoin such as ETH  you can use MyEtherWallet , or if you're wanted to use bitcoin hot web wallet you can use blockchain or address from exchanger like bittrex/poloniex/liqui. But let's consider to use Electrum for a private intention since this is a light desktop wallet

Yes. Electrum seems to be good at desktop. I would go with coinbase wallets.  I find it very safe and secured. Blockchain wallet is always preferred to be used.  You can choose any of these wallets.  Important things to be done is,  set your wallet secured.

.What is Cloverdex platform?.

For Ethereum and it's token, I found Metamask much more useful and safe than myetherwallet. You can easily integrate that to etherdelta as well.

.
.BIG WINNER!.

Myetherwallet for me is the most easy to use wallet for altcoins, BUT make sure to store your private keys safely. If you forget it or have deleted the other safety keys, you'll lose or your coins. You can receive tokens here, and you can use bittrex for exchanges.

MEW indeed, but be careful for the phishing websites though. If you want play it safe, ise the official MEW chrome extension. And/or get a ledger nano s to use in combination with MEW.
Exodus wallet is pretty nice too, but only supports a couple of erc20 tokens for the time being.

Many of you mentioned above to hold and trade coins on bittrex. Is bittrex safe for holding coins there? As I know, Bittrex is a serious crypto exchange, trust worthy l and promising. BUT, as I know there was a thing few days ago that Bittrex banned many accounts with no reason! And people even could not connect with support for a long time.
And only after a long-time Bittrex announced that these accounts were banned for being suspicious and are under examination.  https://cointelegraph.com/news/bittrex-exchange-breaks-silence-on-banned-accounts-questions-remain
I did not like that move.. Ok, the can ban and test the legality, but please, don't dissapear and don't let your customers worry and be in misunderstandings. Stay online and make your support work properly..

It depends on which cryptocurrency you plan to store or hold. If you want a wallet that supports more than one coin use Exodus desktop wallet it is very easy to understand even noobs can easily use it. It supports bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin, doge. You can also try Coinomi mobile wallet it supports hundreds of coin and also supports ethereum erc20 tokens

It is very easy to use. Just you need install blockchin apps then you pair your account with your apps.

Hello and welcome to the crypto world! There are many options (wallets) out there right now and the first thing you have to understand about wallets is the following: You will need two types of wallets.

1. The first type of walle should be a so called "cold" wallet, what a "cold" wallet is, is basically an offline way to store your coins without having to store them in any way electronically or online. The chance of getting your funds stolen that way is greatly reduced (by hackers or a technical outage of your system). In this wallet, you want to keep most of your coins, about 80 to 90%.

2. The second time of wallet you need is a "hot" wallet. Hot wallets are useful sending transactions from there is usually easier and faster, they are connected to the network and they usually operate via your computer or phone. The problem with that is that there is a higher chance you might get hacked, which is the reason why you'll only keep about 20 to 10% of your entire funds in them.

A very good, and user friendly wallet is Exodus, they offer by far the most advanced settings and user friendly environment, check them out!
