I found a strange Polymerbit on Ebay

Hi,

I found a Polymerbit 1/10 ETH on ebay before the test edition was released on the website.

 

These are the two 1/10 ETH we can find on the Polymerbit website


We can see that the final edition (numbered) is a little bit more lighter than the test edition (unumbered). Also if you look closely on the vertical line before "BANK OF POLYMERBIT", you can see "Bitcoin 2017 document" on the final edition, and "Ethereum 2017 document" on the test edition.

And this is the Ebay Polymerbit I received


It is unumbered, and a lot lighter than the test edition. Also there is "Bitcoin 2017 document" on the vertical line, like on the final edition.

This Polymerbit came without hologram, it was shipped from UK. Paper quality is the same.

Is it a polymerbit error ? Thanks

The first print of these notes did have "Bitcoin 2017 document" printed vertically. There are only around 30 of these notes that were printed before they discovered and fixed it.



I don't think it's supposed to be a different color though. The note may have faded because of how it was displayed previously, probably in direct sunlight for long periods. Is the back the same?

Side note, but I don't think it's supposed to say bitcoin on the final version of this note

I ordered two of these ebay notes and both are a lot lighter. The back is the same on the three different polymerbit, and same color.
Yep it's weird that there is ethereum document on the test, and bitcoin document on the final edition.

Ah, no I was confused I meant physically lighter, but apparently it's a lighter color print

We tend to test notes quite a bit until we think we have something you’d enjoy to own...That includes seeing how the final edition may look. That bitcoin document error is now well known and we shredded a large quantity of them. But it appears this guy got some pre production ones.

I'll need to look into it for sure. But for the record this eBay seller is a Polymerbit authorised reseller. So the mistake must be on our end.
