How Do Negative Trust Work

Hello folks,

I want to know how negative trust works. A few hours ago, I came across a fellow managing a campaign. In the campaign thread, I notices a link that was broken and blank. I pm him to point out the problem thinking I was helping a friend. He asked me to show him the link and I tried telling him where to find it. Apparently unable to do so, he threatened to 'neg' me.

So my question is, how does negative trust work? Do people neg people out of malice?

It could be yes, look at my trust history, people have negatively repped me for less. However, that does not matter.

Unless the person negging you is in DT2/DT1 (DefaultTrust), it does nothing.

People that are actually in DT2/DT1 are usually high trusted, and usually won't leave blank negatives/or out of malice, simply because they have too much reputation to loose if they do.

If you think someone did, you can open up a reputation thread here -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=129.0 and he might explain it. If he gave it out of nonsense, it could be that people from DT1 decide to remove him, or if he is from DT1, DT.

Which makes his rating pretty irrelevant again.

I respectfully disagree with you, sir.  You might think those untrusted feedbacks don't matter,  but to someone you're trying to trade with who doesn't look any deeper into them, it might matter quite a bit.  If you look at my trust page, there are some idiots who made very specific claims about me trying to scam them out of very specific amounts of bitcoin, and some of them have even manufactured stories about how I supposedly did it.  It's all bullshit of course, but I've had some users throw it in my face in the currency exchange section. 

It is true that unless there's a valid reference link, you should be skeptical of any claims, not everyone knows that.  So those untrusted negatives are not necessarily benign.

I totally agree with the pharmacist, many users on bitcointalk don't understand the trust system, so even a negative feedback from a non default trust account can be harmful. I wish there was some sort of a reviewing day, where moderators would remove the 'fake' negative feedback. If you see my profile, i too have a 'fake' negative feedback. Anyway would like to hear from moderators on this issue.

How do i know what trust group im in? My trust bar is green, unlike some other peoples, does that mean im DT2, or DT1 or is that unrelated?

yeah right,it always matter to those whom your dealing with those untrusted feedbacks maybe a small thing but still it affects our reputation and credibilities
