I watched a video by someone who seem to have built a lot of rigs. He said to use only 2 of the connections per SATA cable when connecting risers.
I did that with an eight card rig, which used up the 4 SATA cable connections. However, I want to try adding one more card and use simplemining, I currently have two PSU's. Five of the cards are on THE FIRST PSU VGA connections and three other cards are using the 2ND PSU VGA connections.

This guy also said to keep the risers on one PSU. If you didn't, bad things can happen. Can you only do it this way?

Can I use one of the SATA connections and another VGA from the second power supply?

Keep one psu for just gpus and one to power the mobo and risers. That way if the mobo psu dies it essentially switches off the system. Mixing the connections can cause problems. Better yet just buy one big single rail psu and dont worry about connections.

All raisers need to be on main PSU, otherwise it won't even work. Well, it didn't work for me at least.

For me , I am running 9GPUs rig and I have connected 5 Riser to Primary PSU (mobo one) and 3 riser + 5 GPU on 2nd PSU . Yes early I have connected 3 Riser on 1 Sata Cable and my cable got burned but after 1 1/2 months later, now I switch 2 Riser per Sata cable and its running fine from last 1 week.

I have rigs with 3PSU. Everything works fine. Actually it doesn't matter how them all are connected. Just do not overload.
