Is it cheaper to buy litecoin --> send to exchange and sell for bitcoin (take a 0.1-0.25%) loss?? Than to buy bitcoin directly, in my head it seems better.

Or even ethereum if your Alts trade in eth pairs?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

You can deposit money directly to the exchange and buy BTC at market price losing only 0.25%.

and quite possibly faster too if you need to trade in a hurry. BTC can take forever and a day to make the required confirmations. And for noobs like me, experience can be an expensive teacher. Yes, im speaking of the fees  Grin
