Amelie Arras used bitcoin exclusively, no intermediaries, in a payments race to promote an industry conference. Competing against four others who also had their own strict payment methods, including gold, Ms. Arras won, showing the world’s most popular cryptocurrency is gaining acceptance as a medium of exchange.

I have watched something similar video but that is all about the application of living in the city with bitcoin. I can't remember on who is the girl on that video but all the things that she is availing, from Uber, to restaurants and almost all her needs needs to be purchased with bitcoin. Bitcoin is really starting to make noise and this type of acceptance truly helps the bitcoin and adds some more people that are willing and ready for cryptocurrency adoption.

Nice read, thank you for sharing the story. I am very happy to see Arras winning especially against the traditional payment methods such as Cash and contactless system. This show how crypto can be used in daily life as well.

I am looking forward to follow Arras competition in Asia.

The testbed of the said conference is very limited. I'd be impressed if the said conference included third world countries just to widen the variety of the communities for their experiment. Nonetheless, it's cool to know that bitcoin is accepted even by the smallest of merchants ever since it hit mainstream media followed by several business experts commenting on the subject of bitcoin as a payment method.

I think as more girls get involved in crypto currency, it means its good for the market, girls don't invest without proper research, means she did research and know how valuable it is.

It may be important to emphasize that this competition held in Canada&USA,from Toronto to Las Vegas in 7 days.It is nice news that Amelie wont this contest using only BTC for payment which indicates that it is currently possible to survive only with BTC in this part of the world. It would be fun to see
how the competition will end in Asia, but since Singapore is friendly to cryptocurrency I think we can expect that BTC win again.

I see gold is one of payment option, but even it is always smart to invest in gold no one is accept gold as payment,so no food, drink or hotel room.

It's nice to see that Bitcoin can be used and shows that an increasing amount of places have started trading in Bitcoin. Although, I would expect countries like USA and the UK to be easier to live on Bitcoin especially around the cities. She's going to Asia to do the same and I think that will be interesting considering the noise recently about Bitcoin over there.

The honest truth is that you can use Visa cards linked to your bitcoin account/ wallet. It's not rocket science anymore. You can live off bitcoin whether people truly accept it directly or not now. It's pretty exciting and a nice last resort in case it tanks at some point.

Using Bitcoin with debit cards is not using Bitcoin. There needs to be businesses that just accept it directly as it is so easy to send online. There will be many services like this in the future.

Using Bitcoin with debit cards is not using Bitcoin.

I do happen to agree with that. People just make themselves happy with the thought of them spending their coins through whatever debit card, but in reality it's just them settling transactions with fiat. I however have to point out that if you have Bitcoin as only source of income, these cards will allow you to basically shop anywhere in the world without the need to convert any of the coins you have yourself. In that regard, it does serve a purpose. The only downside is that you depend on a third party, and that's not exactly a thought I am very happy with.

Other than that, the video included in this article made me almost fall asleep. Could they not pick someone who's more energetic to get the conversation running in a more interesting way? Damn.
