Not your Keys, not your Bitcoin

I would like to divide this question into two different ones:

1)   Do you have your investments diversified in general and don’t only hold bitcoin? I mean if you also have stocks, funds, bonds, metals, participations in businesses etc.

2)   Do you hold only bitcoin or do you also hold other cryptos?

My answer is yes to 1) and not yet to 2) but I will.

It's yes for me for both 1 and 2. For number 1, its important that you don't rely on a single asset. Everything can go down and not having back up would be one of the biggest mistake you can commit. For number 2, i've been trading for a year now and i've invested in coins that  i felt would be profitable in the future. Etherium and ripple are some coins that i have stored
In my decision also yes to 1 and not yet to 2. Because we do not hold the Bitcoin and other altcoins are not possible to current market in cryptocurrency. This is like a one type of share market any time it will fall down or raise up. Many peoples are invest other things this may increase or stable in future. But cryptocurrency we cannot predict in the future market. I am also invest to business and metals.

I don't have any other non-cryptocurrency related investments, my main one is holding Bitcoin, I despise the risk of trading. I'm also holding some Ripple, not expecting much from that, nor deeming it a decent investment, just purchased to see how it ends up.

To answer your first question, yes I diversify my investments into bitcoin, businesses, and even banks where I keep my cash. But I don't diversify my crypto, I am all in for bitcoin as of the moment.

I would like to answer your question in two different one's .

1) Yes i like to diversify my investment into various trading products like Stocks,Commodities,Forex and crypto's. Actually stock is a better options and i hold 40% of my capital into that and remaining 60% is invested equally into other trading products. Actually diversifying your capital reduces the risk and also it diversify the risk too here.

2) I mostly hold bitcoin and other crypto's also like ethereum, litecoin and ripple where they are considered to be the top rated alt coins and expected to grow bigger than bitcoin in coming days.

Yes, but for crypto it is difficult diversifying effectively with thousands of currencies and tokens being issued every day. From a theoretical point of view holding a market cap weighted portfolio of all assets is the ideal thing to do, but in practice holding just bitcoin is more effective (than that, at least).

My answer is Yes for both

1) I invest in other offline investments. Currently stocks and bonds but I intend to invest in others.

2) My crypto portfolio has Bitcoin and altcoins.

Im the opposite of you my friend. I do not have any other investments currently and all my eggs (stupidly) are in one basket. I have diversified with my btc however (but that too was not a good choice) so I am 2 for 2 in

bad decisions Cheesy. Oh well as long as I learn from this and dont continue to make these mistakes everything should be okay and if not I remain positive that bad outcomes happen for a reason.

You must always diversify your investments and anything money related. Even most things in life. You would not out all valuables in one place in your house imagieb a fire starts and is where our valuables are and you lose them all. If you sosce them out you will only ever lose where the fire reaches and everything else will be fine. Rather lose some then all. If everything is invested in one oksce and something bad happens then it is all lost and you don't want that. You want multiple streams of income. That way if some stop then you not joboess and without money.

Yes, I am trying to invest in some stocks. I read here that real estate investment is good, but although I am 49 years old I do not have sufficient money to buy a new home. I guess real estate is very good, but here in Eastern Europe, real estate investement is a dream for most of people. Bitcoin was a bless, stocks follow it (little people have courage to invest in stocks here).

Yes of course, i have several bussiness on my local city, and most of the funds that i get from bitcoins or my other online investments are being invested in them right now.
It is not because i dont believe on bitcoins or in crypto in general, it is because i prefer to diversify that money instead of having all that in just bitcoin, and everybody should do the same, we dont know if bitcoin will be down in some days, we dont know anything about that.

The answer to 1 is more important than the answer to 2. Most alts have a high correlation with BTC, so holding different alts won't give you any benefit. The correlation of bitcoin with other assets is low, so it acts like a kind of hedge.

I think include Bitcoin as part of the investment portfolio is definitely a good move, perhaps around 5 - 10 % so to get the benefits from crypto growth. Although whether to diversify between Bitcoin and other crypto really depends on how much further risk and time you'd like to spend on crypto. Perhaps a 80:20 split of Bitcoin and Ethereum would be good for the long term.

i just want to add that when you diversify you should be extra careful not to over do it.

i am speaking from personal experience that when you diversify specially when you are investing in altcoins it is easy to lose track and invest in a very large number of altcoins and you end up having lots of different alts and most of them are useless and lose price.
the bigger problem is that it becomes impossible to have all of them under close observation at all time so you may lose track and with it money.

what i do is that i obviously invested in bitcoin and as for altcoins i keep the number to a handful so it is easy to handle.

I recently sold all my shares to put into a high interest account. Shares are volatile in UK at moment due to Brexit. I have bitcoin and eight ether tokens. Will be looking to sell some to put into litecoin and neo.

Yes, I also have stock investments. Well it was before I discovered bitcoin so its logically that I still have and holding it till now. I also have a business so I guess you can call it diversification.

2)   Do you hold only bitcoin or do you also hold other cryptos?

My answer is yes to 1) and not yet to 2) but I will.

Initially, I not only hold bitcoin but other altcoins as well, But I dumped all my altcoins in favor of bitcoin only. As I see that bitcoin specially for long term hold is the best choice and fit my schedule. (I can't do day trading with altcoins anymore, change of priority, hard to track on my end).

It is a very difficult question to answer. Initially I had invested only a very small amount in Bitcoins (may be 1% of my total wealth). But as time progressed, the value of Bitcoins increased and now they are close to 60% of my portfolio. On top of my initial investment, I received some more coins from signature campaigns and bounties.

Diversifying is a good idea, but as for the second part of your post, holding altcoins, it can be tricky. There's a strong general trend that when Bitcoin is growing, all altcoins lose their BTC value so their USD value remains roughly the same. If you'll put it together with a pretty popular opinion that altcoins are in bubble and that Bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency, than turning a big portion of your portfolio into altcoins might start sounding like a dangerous idea. On the other hand, this year altcoins showed giant growth and people who have been holding them for at least 6 months at that point have managed to get some very big returns (for example, Ethereum was trading at $10 last year, while today it's $300), but it's very hard to tell if this will ever repeat or if altcoins will crash instead. So, if you want to diversify, better pick your coins very carefully and select only 1-3 coins that you think are the best.
