Hey guys, So I recently got an R4 and I cannot log in using root/root. I have tried:

1. resetting the miner. about 10 times now. Nothing.
2. Resetting miner with only controller powered. Nothing.
3. Different browsers. Nothing.
4. different computer. Nothing.
5. hard wired and wireless. Nothing.
6. trying different combinations of su/admin/root for user and pass. Nothing.
7. Resetting router. Nothing.

I can, however, login to SSH. root/admin works. I have tried many different ways of somehow getting to the GUI from SSH and can't figure out how or if it's possible. I have also tried using unix commands to change the GUI password but I can't seem to make that work either. I have tried using vi to change the configuration but it won't let me save and I have to reset the SSH connection. I can list user names and see that root is correct for the GUI username but can't find a way to show a password that isn't md5 hashed. the passwd command only changes SSH password, not GUI.

For the life of me, I cannot figure it out. I have spent 2 straight days searching the internet to make sure I have tried everything before asking... but now I'm asking because I am totally out of ideas. I could really use some help.

Can you reinstall the firmware/OS?
As I understand it you can download the software from bitmains website as it looks like your login data may have become corrupted or something.

To clear something up, the passwords for the GUI will be stored in a different place than the SSH/server ones for security reasons along with mere simplicity (if I understand it correctly, Linux is the backbone of the antminer OS).

As far as I am aware, you can only upgrade/reinstall firmware from the GUI which I cannot access.

You might want to take a look at this and se if you can find a way to do it. Use a new SD card if you can just incase you make a mistake.
