As an online shopper, I haven't encountered an online store that accepts bitcoin as a mode of payment. As far as I know, online few market around the world that accepts this as a currency. But still, if you want to shop online with no hassle, there are some wallets that can be used to convert your bitcoin into it's value in cash and use it as a payment for online stores.

When you buy something on eBay or Amazon, you pay the seller, he ships the product and upload a tracking number.
If you haven't received the item, you can call eBay or Amazon and, basically, what happens is that if they have a tracking number that shows that the item has been delivered, then it is ok, otherwise eBay or Amazon reverses the transaction and you get your money back.
Is that possible with bitcoin? What if I buy a boat online for 2 bitcoins and I never receive it? Is bitcoin able to solve this problem?

Thanks
First, in online shopping they only sell things that have in size. So in short words, they only sell small things. The one that you say is impossible. Also as an online shopper i think bitcoin is really fit to these job in the online shopping it can used to buy foods like pizza cars to not be hassle and etc.

I have bought tons of stuff online and I don’t have encountered anything that allows me to pay in bitcoin yet. However just like in the restaurant it would be a win if we are able to integrate cryptocurrencies on this and with this in mind the problems is just of the price and its unpredictability

Yes now bitcoin is using for many transaction just like online shopping. Big shopping malls allowed bitcoin cash as well as bitcoin ATM card facility in malls therefore it is good sign for us it’s mean that bitcoin acceptance is increasing day by day.

Well it should. It was designed for online transactions after all. The rules simply have to be a little different. You can't ship your item until your transaction has gotten a few confirmations. As for consumer protection in the way of payment reversals, you would probably have to rely on third party services such as Bitpay.

The way I see it, Bitcoin has to be more than viable for online transactions. We know it can't compete with fiat on point of sale transactions, so it should at least rule the online domain.

Well, it the same this as eBay and Amazon, Bitcoin is just a payment option, Like for example, eBay or Amazon adopt bitcoin as there payment option, they will assure that the item will be back to you but if it doesn't,  Amazon/eBay will process your money back and not the bitcoin system itself.

The only solution is credibility of the seller. If seller is credible, you can go first with Bitcoin.
There are services like Purse.io. They let you buy stuff for Bitcoin on Amazon. In this way, you can easily buy whatever you want and have no risk of being scammed as Purse is reputable company.

This isn't water tight because 1.) Credibility of a seller can only work over a certain period of time. So new sellers have a barrier to entry which is not great for the online economy. 2.)It works better for low value items only. So something that is $10 $20 etc a seller will likely deliver all the time because of risk/reward ratio. If you have a seller who does high value items they can build up their rep to pull off one big scam.

I haven't used bitcoin on Ebay or Amazon, but I tried it on Steam. I bought myself a game and then later tried to issue a refund. When Steam asked me how I wanted to recieve the refund, I only had one option. Normally I would get the money back to my Visa card, but I got it in my Steam wallet. It stated on the website that refunds to Bitcoin wallets would come soon, but knowing Valve I doubt that's on their priority list.

It's irreversible but they can make the system where the site hold the money first until the item arrive, after that thr buyer confirms it and they will forward the payment to the seller, incase the buyer doesn't receive the item, they can send the money back. It can be done but it needs time until amazon and ebay accept it as payment option.

I think that is perfectly reasonable.  This way we only have 1 middle man of ebay/amazon and not 2 with the bank taking their cut for providing no value the transaction.  Obviously if open bazaar takes over online shopping then great but last time i checked they still need escrow in the trade.

Absolutely yes. Now there are stores that accept cryptocurrency. In addition, projects are being developed that make equipment for accepting payments, debit cards.

Bitcoin doesn't work with direct transactions, the privacy of the buyer is exploited at that process, if an online store would provide or obey the process of bitcoin transactions, which uses blocks, then it would be a perfect store.

Yes, it definitely does. Here in my country we have an online shop where they accept bitcoin. Although, the only problem to this online shop is the products are limited, mostly clothing. So, what more if most of the shops accept bitcoin. That would be really convenient.

Yep bitcoin can be used for payment options for online shopping although still there are no many online shopping that accept the bitcoin, but sometimes long or short time they will addopt the bitcoin on their online shopping, just couples online shops that addopted the bitcoin for example we can pay using the bitcoin on https://purse.io/ and getting goods from the Amazon, also we will get the discount too on there.

If you're wondering where to start, look no further than the following top websites that are now accepting Bitcoin as payment for their goods and services. By the way, more and more brick-and-mortar sites are accepting Bitcoin, too. Fly into Denver and you can even pay for your parking with Bitcoin. Cryptocurrency is not just for the unsavory criminal any more.

1.Overstock.com - To use bitcoin on Overstock.com, at checkout simply select the "Pay with bitcoin" option to complete your purchase.

2.Expedia - Like Overstock.com, Expedia teamed up with Coinbase to implement the new payment option. Bitcoin payment is only accepted for hotel bookings at the moment, but may be expanded to include payments for flights, activities and more.

3.eGifter - eGifter is a popular gift card site and mobile app that lets users buy gift cards for all sorts of places, including Amazon, JCPenny, Sephora, Home Depot, Kohl's and more. eGifter uses Coinbase as their bitcoin partner.

Therefore, the answer is yes you can use bitcoin for OL shopping. There are so much more website or stores that accepts bitcoin payment. Hope my answer helped you.

It actually depends on the where you make your purchases from, if you buy from a person directly and used paypal, then you might have been ripped off. But if you bought it from like say Amazon, you are very much entitled to a refund if your items doesn't arrive.

Actually bitcoin has been involved in online business for a long time. It is possible to use bitcoin for online purchases but not common. Only some bitcoin stores accept bitcoin payments. I hope next time online shopping with bitcoin becomes more popular
