When you buy something on eBay or Amazon, you pay the seller, he ships the product and upload a tracking number.
If you haven't received the item, you can call eBay or Amazon and, basically, what happens is that if they have a tracking number that shows that the item has been delivered, then it is ok, otherwise eBay or Amazon reverses the transaction and you get your money back.
Is that possible with bitcoin? What if I buy a boat online for 2 bitcoins and I never receive it? Is bitcoin able to solve this problem?

Thanks
It's possible if the seller has a very fair policy, my advice you just need to be careful to do online shopping, because not all online sellers can be trusted, search really reliable and highly recommended, then you do not have to worry about money and goods you ordered.

In regard with using ebay or Amazon to buy stuff the buyer is protected with ebays buyer protection and in some cases extends to the seller but this kind of system cant work with bitcoin because transactions once made are final unless the recipient chooses to send back the funds which would be inefficient to make this work...the closest system. We have is the use of escrow.

No, that is not possible. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, so if you pay the seller directly then there is nothing you can do if he decide to scam you. I think it's easy to solve this though. First the site that is providing the service could act as an escrow and hold your payment, until the item is delivered. This way you would be protected. There could also be a trust system, like this forum has, and you could rate sellers. This way they would have to work for their reputation, and they wouldn't risk it if they wanted to succeed in their business.

I have no idea how overstock deals with this, or openbazaar but I really think a combination of these two options would solve that problem.

As an online shopper, I haven't encountered an online store that accepts bitcoin as a mode of payment. As far as I know, online few market around the world that accepts this as a currency. But still, if you want to shop online with no hassle, there are some wallets that can be used to convert your bitcoin into it's value in cash and use it as a payment for online stores.
Yes you can buy online things through bitcoin with fast transition and also you can use it like this also in any shop or anywhere I personally buy a lot of things online and they all accept it so I don’t know may be in some countries it don’t work but here in my country it work easily even I can pay all my bills online hope it will start work also in other countries.

Of course, already many small and large merchants accept bitcoin. Just waiting for time until all merchants receive bitcoin, at least half of it.

NO. Bitcoin doesn't work there but instead you can process bitcoin into cash designated to your currency where do country you belong. You cannot use bitcoin instantly when you earned it because it not yet notice by the main market we have. Bitcoin is still in a process to be known for is's usage.  But maybe someday bitcoin is the universal currency and the cashless society will be there, No corruption and NO counterfeiting.

I think Bitcoin can also make us as a means of payment in the online shop,

for example there is a shirt for $ 1000 then Bitcoin in the output must be for $ 1000,

although the price of Bitcoin down and up, which changed only the amount of Bitcoin in the output not the price of the shirt..

and the online shop should keep updating Bitcoin / dollar price..

it depend, where you buy it? ebay or amazon too?
if seller have great popularity like two above you can get back your bitcoin. because the packet you bought not delivered.
but if you buy from strange store or people, your coin cant back to you. it like scam. but i dont know in country that accepted bitcoin as payment.

There's an even better solution, which I enjoy using now. If you've traded in crypto marketplaces, you might be familiar with it: escrow! I only sell my Bitcoin with Localbitcoins and Bisq, which have inbuilt escrow releases. Even dark markets used them. I know people have mentioned them earlier, but here's a few places you can find them:

1. This forum. There are several professional escrowers in Services section. Contact them for their services, they charge between 1 to 5% of the fee, but that's probably far bigger savings than what you'll end up paying for Amazon's administration fees on reversals, for example.
2. Coinpayments.net is an example of a professional service that'll set up an escrow payment for you. They even have ICOs using them now to escrow investor funds. They'll verify you've received your goods, and release payment to the seller.

Not perfect, but that to me is a better solution than what's traditionally available. If you've ever had to fight for your money in a dispute over some seller not delivering... you'd understand it's a huge waste of time (not to mention you get back your money minus "admin fees").

It would be hard for bitcoin to be used the same way as PayPal as there is no protection when making purchases. It would be ok with a reputable company but there will be a risk when buying from unknown sellers.

Presently Bitcoin does not work for online shooping. But in future you can shop online with paying Bitcoin directly.

As one forum member have already suggested, you can use BitPay for issues like these. But BitPay might not be the best option for you out there. Other BitPay alternatives you might want to consider are Adyen, BlueSnap, and Stripe. You can read a comparison of their services here, along with other alternatives to the three aforementioned services.

I believe he was looking for advice to purchase from online big retailers, at this point your best bet would be exchanging BTC for currency on any wallet that can be used to purchase using a Credit Card such as Neteller or Skrill, however bear in mind these are designed for gambling and you can't use funds deposited via BTC to make purchases right off the bat, you might want to exchange BTC at a lower rate for money that can be used in online stores.

Also getting Amazon gift cards is a viable option

If ebay or amazon are going to accept bitcoin as payment method it is logically that they are not going to make you pay the seller directly to his wallet since the transaction is irreversible. They have to implement a system so when you buy a product the funds are kept in their wallet(ebay or amazon) and when you received the product the fund are distributed to the sellers wallet. This is going to be a disadvantage for most of the sellers. It is a complicated thing and it takes more time than Paypal, plus that the fees are differene every hour. I dont think ebay or amazon are going to add bitcoin as a payment method soon because it takes a lot of time to develop a system that works.

Agreed. Transaction fees will make Bitcoin not suitable to buy small items. I think shops could offer a discount if people pay with Bitcoin, in order to cover high transaction fees...

It would be hard for bitcoin to be used the same way as PayPal as there is no protection when making purchases.

Buyers protection serves just one party -> the seller in a way is always exposed to the risks of malicious entities charging back on them. Bitcoin solves that problem nicely. Everything you receive in Bitcoin as seller, is fully yours (assuming you don't make use of a third party service). But then again, the buyers will then complain about the lack of protection on their side with Bitcoin. I am quite sure that there are some solutions that you can implement to suit all parties involved, but you then have to accept that everything you do will happen mostly in a centralized environment. I rather just stick to being careful when it comes to where I spend my coins, which helps a lot. Wink

Of course it's useful. Using Bitcoin as an online shopping payment makes it easier for users to buy things without having to go out to bank for transfers the money. It would be great if the big online shopping like amazon and others receive Bitcoin as their payment.
