a friend asked me a question and I wasn't so sure what to answer. if bitcoin won't exists, which coin you think can become the main one and why?
my instincts were to say 'eth' but I started to think that maybe there are better choices, what do you think?

Even I second that. ETH would have been the best coin if bitcoin wouldn't have existed. It is technologically superior that bitcoin and can be used for many purposes. Apart from the facility of creating smart contracts and token, the ETH offers near instant transaction confirmation. Initially I used to arbitrage using bitcoin but due to the transaction confirmation time, I used to loose a lot of arbitraging opportunities. However, I have switched to ETH for my arbitraging trades due to near instant transaction speed. So my vote goes to ETH without the existence of bitcoin.

I agree that ETH will take the crown. Smart Contract is the best pitch for this coin. Actually is been behind bitcoin for so long that we can call him the #1 altcoins. Plus more project can really appreciates what ETH can offer. And with it being the coins being offered as investment in ICO, there's no question that it can be the #1 if bitcoin is not here.

Of course it will be ETH. Where is the best coin in the second rank on the market. And after that I will choose litcoin as the third coin in the market. We know that it is very profitable to mine eth coin and it is providing almost nearly same features as Bitcoin security does. That's because all altcoins are based on Bitcoin, so the question really is, who would came up with the same idea if Sathosi Nakamoto wouldn't exist.

ETH for me too. I think it's the coin with greatest potential and less possible problems, it's realy perspective for the future. Its current position on the market shows that too and prety much stable price rise. And it already has a significant number of supporters and users which is also very important for further development.

Ethereum is a big bitcoin competitor. They have a large team of developers and they are backed by big companies unlike btc who has only core devs which are pretty stubborn

For me, if bitcoin did not exist, none of other cryptocurrencies or altcoins won't also exist since all these coins were developed based on bitcoins.

An altcoin has more potential and uses some new alternatives and is altcoin altogether othe original altcoin.

As for now, Ethereum seems to be the best one after Bitcoin because it guarantees security and lets you to create smart contracts and tokens. Moreover, ETH transactions get very quick confirmations.

Well, IOTA doesn't use blockchain. I find their project very interesting.
IOTA is the altcoin I believe in the most. They really thought out of the box, inventing something relatively new.

Maybe that's Etherium. Bitcoin is believed to be theno.1 cryptocurrency for a long period of time and Etherium is always on its back. Etherium have already established a strong community. Its market valuen is continuously increasing. Also, it is oftenly used in ICOs. There are other coins buy I choose Etherium becauze I think it is reallh a good coin.

It depends a lot on what you mean by "won't exists".

Case a
Bitcoin was never invented. Simple , we would have no other coins.

Case b
Bitcoin flaw/exploit identified, bitcoin crashes. Probable it's going to take all the altcoins down with it as confidence will go to 0.

Case c
Bitcoin is totally abandoned in favor of another altcoin. Sorry but with the current altcoins in the market I'm unable to imagine this scenario.

It's Ethereum not Etherium.
And that shows why it has so little chance of becoming nr 1.

Without bitcoin, there would be no market in here, just think about it. If dollar dies, what do you think that it is going to happen? euro will replace it? of course that no, because the whole economy would break down because dollar is the most important currency.
the same happens with bitcoin, without btc, there would not be any altcoin on the market because most of them are following bitcoin prices pattern, so it means that if bitcoin dies, they will die too.
And this is like a cycle, they are always following bitcoin, no matter what.

Bitcoin is the father of all cryptocurrencies and it has been created the first and considered the pioneer of cryptographic digital money so if don't exists then there would be no any cryptocurrencies right now but let's just think that if it in case that there is no Bitcoin and someone think or have done a cryptocurrency without the existence of Bitcoin then no doubt that Ethereum will be the number one coin and would be the most invested cryptocurrency today because it is the second among the coins right now that has a big market capitalization.

I also believe that if Ethereum goes first in the market before Bitcoin does then maybe it will hold the 1st place of the cryptocurrency throne, being first really matters after all as you will be the basis.

Yes Ethereum , but who knows, maybe a privacy coin like Dash or Monero would have taken the biggest part of the market.
