I do not think in the nearest future (I mean 5 years) any altcoin can beat Bitcoin. However, cryptocurrency market is full of unexpected things. Probably with time some genius person will invent perfect crypto and it will beat BTC.

It depends upon the profit i am having ,i do get into bitcoin whenever i feel like that is a good rally coming up and i would invest in it.So it varies with situation and the market situation and i have had success in the past and i was waiting for a correction for a long time and since that has happened now i am waiting for a proper time to re enter again,so my time with bitcoin goes as we move forward.

It will be extremely difficult to any of the existing altcoins to beat BTC. Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that has millions of supporters, people that believe into it, those ones who are always ready to invest into it. No one alt has such a high degree of trust.

Bitcoin survives long, nothing to think about the long lasting of bitcoin. Already it has proven the real potential with the growth that has taken place in a much lesser time period. At present the usage of bitcoin increases all around, so surely it will survive long benefiting the users who believe in it.

Can altcoins set up their own systems and beat bitcoins?
Not for now and I think it will take more time for the altcoins to set up their systems and beat Bitcoin because are not known to the entire world this time. Based on my observation here in my country majority of the people whether Bitcoin enthusiasts or not, knows Bitcoin the most compared to any Altcoins on the market today. I don't think if the Bitcoin community will allow Bitcoin to die or Altcoins to dominate the market where Bitcoin is holding such dominance on the market a couple of years ago until these days. It could be possible but we can't exactly tell when Altcoins will be beating Bitcoin. The life of Bitcoin depends on the support given by it's community so I think much better to observe the market for now.

Bitcoin has a lot of backups... The strength of every building is in the foundation, Bitcoin's foundation is intact with lot of software and hardware backing it up..

I think it will live until all the bitcoins have run out, and then maybe they come up with something else. Competition is always good, it gives development - began to appear Bitcoin Gold and others.

Can altcoins set up their own systems and beat bitcoins?
I think that altcoins wont take over bitcoin for now. Bitcoin is riding the hype and is continuously rising that is why bitcoin will not be beaten by altcoins just yet. But time will come if the altcoins will continue to evolve until their systems will be stable. But i see the big potential of altcoins to beat bitcoins in the future. But for now bitcoin will survive and stand at the top. Dont get the wrong idea, bitcoin will still be there but the altcoin will surpass bitcoin if the bitcoin will take it easy on altcoins and count them out. Bitcoin must also upgrade and improve their systems if they want to be at the top

I dont think that shit coins can over take Bitcoin. Because bitcoin was the fundamental of all the shit coins out there. Maybe alt coins are going high for now. I think its because demand is higher in alt coins and some alt coins are convenient to use than bitcoin. You may may ask why the hell Bitcoin price is not moving and alt coins is shifting up. But if you observe youll really notice that still bitcoin is the root.

It depends on what you think is beating. If price, it's hardly to believe altcoins can compare with bitcoin. Maybe someday in future. But on tech-side and use cases more and more alts overcome btc even now.
It depend of the people, if they are still using it and continuously support bitcoin. But i think bitcoin is never eliminate to all cryptocurrencies because it is the only reason why many crypto came out today and never remain unlike bitcoin it stay, even there are some crypto is well develop than bitcoin.

Bitcoin will survive for every long time as long as many people use bitcoin, but until today i have realize bitcoin has many disadvantages like small blocks and delay transactions that can threaten entire bitcoin life because investors need cryptocurrencies fast, secure and no delay, so bitcoin wont last for if it does not change itself.

Its impossible but now. Maybe ethereum or Bitcoin's fork coin overtake top1 from Bitcoin. I think, Bitcoin's life is at least 10 years on the top1.

I will answer your question with a small example...
Whoever join the cryptoworld 5 years ago roughly, they would know that Bitcoin was worth around $100. Today its close to $7000, and it's predicted that BTC can reach $10K by the end of the 2017.
I believe that the numbers speak for themselves.. It's safe to say Bitcoin will be around for a long time!

I'm sure that Bitcoin is only going to show its power and real price. More and more people are buying it. Some people only meet Bitcoin and hear about it for the first time. After price changing there are news on the Internet, TV, so even those who know nothing about cryptocurrency, informed about Bitcoin

Bitcoin will always be at the TOP. It's really not possible to overtake Bitcoin, Currently no other crypto currency is in position to do that. Bitcoin will always have the first mover advantage and the market cap of $ 100 billion is the proof that investors have the strong believe in BITCOIN potential. If few people holding about 1 million Bitcoins can easily influence the market of any other token or coin to a significant level. That's the power of BTC. Bitcoin is the most decentralized & democratic coin which is also it's strong point.

I think the only thing that can harm bitcoin are not other altcoins but government regulations to fight against it. My only fear is, that countries will start banning it and closing down exchanges.

Can altcoins set up their own systems and beat bitcoins?
There is a possibility that altcoins can beat bitcoins if they set up their own systems, because lot of users are more focus in earning altcoins rather than bitcoins, but since altcoins are dependent on bitcoin, that without bitcoin there will be no altcoins. Well in fact, altcoins was originated to bitcoin.
