i'm fairly new to btc and have yet to get anything running except the official bitcoin client.

i just ran entered all commands from the first post here:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=2636.0

and i do not know how to execute the installed miner (or did i just install a miner?  Roll Eyes) oh boy... feels good to be a noob again lol

Did you setup your bitcoind to be a 'server' to have an rpcusername/rpcpassword?
