Hi guys!

Although I've only just registered, I've been reading the forum for months and bought my first bitcoin around October 2012.

So far I've used Bitstamp to buy all my bitcoin and can recommend them: no hassles and a friendly responsive support.  Smiley

I used Transferwise to move cash from the UK and they were good too, until they turned their back on BTC.  Sad

What's been your experience buying bitcoin?

Check out the official bitcoin wiki at bitcoin.it. There should be many listed.

How secure do you find localbitcoins transactions? Do you stick with the same seller for multiple transactions?

I've used local bitcoins a few times without problems. It's one of the only ways to buy if you're from the UK.

OTC is good as well if you are a bit more tech savvy.

If you don't mind getting verified, an exchange is probably your best bet. Try craigslist if you dare. Maybe post in a mining pool forum and see if any miners need/want to cash out.

I've tried localbitcoins.com but no one has gotten back too me. Would anyone recommend buying coins off forums instead? I prefer not to deal with exchanges because I don't see the need to give out some personal information just for some virtual currency  Grin

OTC of the form marketplace both work, just use escrow for large transactions.

if you can find someone in person, who can verify how much they have and send it before you give them cash - do it this way. they'll usually sell it under cost and you can hustle them for a better rate, instead of getting hustled hard by online exchanges.
