The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

No. In fact, no graphics card is good to mine Bitcoin whatsoever. But yours is so weak that it won't make a dime on any other coin.
When it comes to Bitcoin, you need dedicated ASIC miners such as the Antminer S9.

For other coins you'd have to get a much more powerful GPU such as a GTX 1070, RX 570/580 or RX Vega 56/64.

You are looking into GPU mining right. For that you have choose bestest graphics cards like radeon 470 or higher end other radeon model cards to start mining. You can mine with the cards but for bitcoin mining you cannot make better amount using these GPU mining. With this cards you can mine ehtereum, zcash, monero, neo and so on.
To mine a bitcoin, you please buy any ASIC miner to start with. Antminer s9 is the best resource to mine a bitcoin.

If you want to fry your notebook you can try to mine some altcoins with the CPU on your notebook but I wouldnt recommend it.  Laptops do not have the best cooling and running your CPU at heavy loads for hours at a time inside a laptop is never a good idea.  If you want to get into mining altcoins.  Buy a tower and gut it or buy a frame, a cheap CPU, a few GPUs, PSU, SSD and go at it.  If you want to mine Bitcoin you will need to get a ASIC device as GPU mining is not possible anymore.  Take a look in the bitcoin mining section for more information if that is what you are looking for.  If you do want to get into altcoin mining suggest reading many of the posts here first and when you understand how it works then begin to price and build your rig, taking into account the cost of electricity you pay for as that can really impact your potential gains.

I would not recommend that. I've being experimenting with my rig, even though I have one of the best CPU on the market now, i7700k clocked at 4gz with extra cooling for it, it can barely get to a 0.5-1$ a day depending on what you want to mine. That being said, I would not even even try mining on a notebook, as the temperature would get very high very fast. I have this bad boy on top of my CPU http://prntscr.com/hjwpr3 and it still gets to 70C...

Hello newbie it is already explained then why you need the explained here by digging the dead thread. No one will tolerate the post like this. Moreover mining section moderators will be delete the thread when it goes wrong.
Still the GPU mining farm owners mining ethereum and BTG now because of its less difficulty than the bitcoin. They are mining altcoins the GPU rig. I think you would not repeat it again same here or else where.
