Bitcoin breaks $6,500

Just moments ago I was reading about Bitcoin setting a new price record above $6,400. The main cryptocurrency has been incredibly strong, and resilient during crashes, so this latest development does not surprise me one iota.

What also does not surprise me is that Bitcoin kept going after reaching the $6,400 mark, settling above $6,600 at the time of writing this article, based on an average from major exchanges like Bithumb (where it’s actually gone past $6,700), Kraken, GDAX and Poloniex.

Based on data from Coinmarketcap.com, Bitcoin is up around 6.5 percent today, which has boosted its market cap above $110 billion. Its “dominance” of the crypto scene is also up to 59.7 percent, mainly due to the fact that the top altcoins (alternative crypto coins) are either in the red or behind it in terms of average gains after the most-recent crash in September.

Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency, has been struggling to break out of the $300 zone for around a month now. It went through an update earlier in October, which was expected to give it a much-awaited boost, but it still remains well below the price record set in mid-June, when it traded above $400. Its market cap is $28.36 billion now.

Bitcoin Cash has surpassed Ripple (again) to take third place, now trading just under $500. The cryptocurrency, which was created August 1 through a fork of Bitcoin, has a market cap of $8.3 billion. It is up over 12 percent today. Ripple, meanwhile, is down below $0.2, with its market cap hovering around $7.6 billion.

Further down the line in the top 10, BitConnect is the only other coin which has gained in price day-over-day, being up to around $244 and 6.04 percent. Its market cap is just shy of $1.8 billion.

It's pretty cool alright. Everyday I explain why it's rising to people and they start to understand. Almost 3/4ths of it has been mined and it can't be regrown like tulips. While it can correct off and on, the price is only going up for the mid and long term. I'm just glad I finally bought in when the price was around $2000. Cheers!

It's very unpredictable which can be a good thing but can also be a very bad thing. Everyone I talked to including myself predicted for Bitcoins price to decrease after the latest fork but it just didn't happen.

that was expected already.that before the november fork it will climb upto $7000 ..amd hope after the fork the price will still goes to the highest as it ever had.this margins are proof that bitcoin will continue to prosper and all the negative speculation will wipe out and the positive will reign

I used to actually laugh at the notion of that, and thought there was no way Bitcoin would ever go that high.  Here we are, I realize its not 10,000 yet, but it doesn't look like it is showing signs of stopping or anything so who knows what it will be by the end of the year.

The time has come for Bitcoin to show its strength as it is surging in price right now. Despite all the problems, challenges and criticisms from many well-known personalities from many sectors of the society, the market for Bitcoin is showing us how resilient it is and how strong is the demand for Bitcoin. Soon, new markets can be opened for Bitcoin and with that happening we are expecting more push on its value. In my opinion, though there can be possible little corrections happening soon, Bitcoin is setting its target towards $10,000 and that can happen maybe within the first quarter of 2018. Now bitcoin again crossed op mentioned value. Value turns to 6629 US dollar in preev price chart. Really great to have the bitcoin as a savings part. There are many hold the bitcoin for long term I could say still do not sell your bitcoins. I am also in the process of saving bitcoin with the earning I am making via signature campaign.
I think if price goes like this before this year ends bitcoin price will reached to 10k USD easily.

maybe you think of that last year as I also not a certain believers that every bitcoin I received from my campaign was already been trade to fiat, if I only realize much earlier maybe I can have a lots of bitcoin by now, bitcoin keeps on rising and its just little away from reaching 7k$ and what is next after touching that ground, nothing is impossible so 10k $ can be achieved in no time.

LOL. In my opinion I think Bitcoin will get over 7k$ at the end of this year if it'll keep increasing like that ). In this year, a lot of hardfork happened and it's the main reason make Bitcoin price increase quickly like that. There are one more hard fork will happen in this month and I think right after the upcoming hardfork Bitcoin price will get over 7k$ and reach to a new peak )

I do not exclude such development of events. Capitalization of bitcoin does not grow linearly. The more the popularity of the cryptocurrency the higher the rate of growth of its capitalization. If now the owners shadow capital will decide for themselves that using bitcoin can legalize their capital they can in one month and increase the capital several times. But just as then they can withdraw their capital and the price of bitcoin will fall. Our future is not yet determined.
