The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

First, choose the altcoin you want to mine because you want to know about the script/algo, the difficulty and then pools to connect to. This will determine the type of hardware you need. THEN you can check prices. If you go to the main sites of Monero and ETH for example, there are also quick guides on how to start up your own mining rigs with recommended hardware. Buy them yourself, because this is how to get them the cheapest. You can also scout around the mining thread for alts here to see if people are selling older hardware if you want them 2nd hand.

first you have search about alt coins and then you get one idea next search which coins has great demand in mining then you have to start mining because if you hold some x coins it has no demand in mining then you get loss so for that reason you have to search market demand of mining coins. most of the people starting on bit coin mining so once you also try on this.

there is not much specific for Ethereum to require special equipment, it is simple GPUs for gaming and appropriate motherboards to have enough slots for these GPUs and a powerful power supply and risers for those GPUs!

the rig can be used for many altcoins and remember that if you plan on mining ETH only and did your calculation based on that, know that the mining will end for this coin pretty soon when they switch to PoS. the block reward is already reduced a lot too. so your calculations may need some updating. you won't reach ROI if you start mining now. because it is already too late.
