I am trying to install on Ubuntu mining software to utilize my AMD GPU. However, when following instructions from this site http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMDGPU-PRO-Install.aspx after installing on Ubuntu, I reboot and X does not start. It does low graphics mode which allows me to see logs and it says "Segmentation fault at address 0x0"

I know it is being caused by the AMDGPU-PRO Driver Version 17.40 for Ubuntu 16.04.3 because I have done a fresh install 3 times now and it never works after I install that driver. However, I cannot mine without that driver.

Any ideas of how to mine? I'm willing to use whatever OS I have to

And yes I realize it is not profitable after electricity. I simply want to do it as a hobby, because I like seeing small amount of satoshis generated from mining.

edit: It's a 5850
