I've been researching for past 2 months and I really need some help guys. Let me explain.

From what I understand ACTUAL draw from the wall by D3 using APW3++ Power supply and unit 220v line is around 930 WATTS. (Is this correct ? I am talking about REAL LIFE power draw here)
If this is not correct someone can please point out what is REAL LIFE power pull from the 220v line.

Let's say I am correct and APW3++ that is rated 1600 WATTS @ 220volt only pulls 930 WATTS can anyone tell me what type of service do I need to have for 10 units and for 50 units. separately.

I hear all type of thins. 1 Phase 300 amps, 3 phase 300 amps, 3 phase 100 amps. So what is it ? I got in touch with licensed electrician and provided spec from BITMAIN of APW3++ unit and D3 unit and guess what. I received almost 6 diffirent plans and types or lines I need. This is madness.

If possible, if anyone knows can you tell me in reality what do I need to run damn D3 units. 10 and 50 please, because I am about to give up, wait for unit to arrive, take KILL A WATT and measure myself because it seems people are clueless, even BITMAIN, no help at all.

P.S.

Video of D3 pulling 930WATTS @ 220v (it's in Geramany they don't have 110) is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z8v5BFxcmo

so if this video is correct, let's say round up WATTS to 1000 instead of 930 and then multiply it by 10 ? So 1000 WATTS x 10 units = 10000 WATTS of power @ 220v for 10x D3 units AKA: 45.454545455 AMPS. So it's around 50 AMPS for 10 units. IS that accurate ?

Let's say it is 45 AMPS. But is it 1 phase or 3 phase or Huh As you can see I did research but now everything is a one giant confusion. IF anyone can confirm my calculations that'll be nice.

Thank you so much.

Hey there,

So my base electrical knowledge tells me 930 / 220 would be 4.23 amps. From there 42.3 for 10 and 211.5 for 50. Even with 10 you will need a good amount of your panel to run those circuits you will likely need 2 or 3 30 amp circuits( each taking up 2 breaker spaces) and PDU's to match to distribute power to your PSU's. My numbers would be a residential North American service, but to run 50 units you will need to look into a completely different setup and might have to consider transformers and what not, that's well outside my range of electrical wiring knowledge. I hope I helped a little.

but if you post this in the alt coin section you will probably find more support from miners running the D3's. Good luck

Thank you so much. I am in NY tri-state area so that's exactly what you'r talking about. I guess I more worry about exact numbers. Like that 930 I saw in the video, but IS IT 930 ? May be it's more a lot more or may be less. After all PSU is rated 1600WATTS running @ 220v why would they make is so OP if it only really needs to be 1000WATT rated @ 220v unless they're really good maker and doing something like 1.5x of maximum power needed for longevity of PSU, then it make sense.

Right now I am looking for 300 AMP service but I hope once everything is there and installed , I wont bite my nails asking myself questions I should be asking now. Like I said according to my calculations I shouldn't need more than 300 AMPS. Now, phases. is it 1 or 3 THAT what I need confirming. Well and whole calculations as a whole.

Thanks for answer.

Bitmain's PSU's are rated for 1,600w because they were first used on *ahem* Bitcoin miners which is what this section is for... Altcoin questions belong in the ALTCOIN areas Wink

Specifically first the s7 and now the s9. Both take in well over 1,300W.

As for max loading for best life and eff for any PSU, keep it at 80% of rating or less and they will be happy.

Good point. May be you can put some light on this situation ? Like what is actual D3 operational power draw from 220 line so I can calculate power requirements for 60 units.

I mean for Bitmain power supply to produce 133 AMPS on output it needs like Gauge 12 wires or something.

Anyhow. Help out if you can.
