For me your friends reaction is just normal.
Especially since bitcoin is new to him and he will surely have reservations for it since it onvolves real money.
And i think the solution is here is education. Do not convince him that bitcoin is all good and there is nothing negative about it.  But let him understand what really bitcoin is,  you cannot convince someone with something he doesnt know.

Don't waste your time on negativity. Everyone here knows that you'll have the last laugh. It's just a matter of time before countries would start regulating cryptocurrency. You're gonna be laughing all the way to bitcoin bank.

If your friend keeps stand on his argument about bitcoin then you can't do shit about it, just let it go and don't discuss about bitcoin anymore with him/her. There are many people who don't trust and hate bitcoin out there, so you can force someone to like or use bitcoin. Your friend only know about the negative one like scam, hyip, ponzi etc but never know about the benefit of bitcoin.

Tell him he must have his head up his ass if he doesn't know where to use bitcoin in Canada. I literally just bought a new computer with bitcoin using a Canadian website.

Ask him this: "what is money?" "Who decides your Canadian dollar is worth ... a can of pop?" "Why do you feel like your currency should lose 1-3% of buying power every year? Why is that a benefit?" "Do you trust your government? Scratch that, you don't have to trust anyone with bitcoin" .

All your dumbass friend is focused on is the price. Clearly he has no idea what bitcoin is and why it's so much better than anything he'll ever accomplish with fiat.

Oh and what the fuck is he going on about a ponzi? If one exchange is having withdrawal issues the CURRENCY is now a ponzi? Holy shit. What a moron. I hope that he walks into his bank, asks for 200 grand in cash and they tell him no. PONZI! CALLED IT!

Because everyone is different, your friend's attitude may be because he sees bitcoin from a different point of view than what we see today. You should try to show your perspective to your friends before maybe it will change your friends mind.
