General consensus from everyone.  I have been doing heavy research on altcoin mining.  Looking to build a rig to start mining Vertcoin.  Looks like its going to cost me about 1400.  Is it worth it?  I have solar but taking into consideration the electric and equipment is it profitable

Everyone is different.  It may be worth it to you and not others.  There are a lot of variables.  For instance, you ask if its profitable.  Sure, it is profitable to mine most altcoins, but what people consider profitable varies greatly.  If you were making 5.00 a day it would take around 280 days to break even.  Is it profitable?  Sure, but do you want to wait 280 days to break even (and that is assuming everything stays the same which it rarely does)? What if you were making 1.00 a day, it would take you 1400 days to break even.  It is profitable, but is that something you would do?

All the information is out there.  If you want to start mining have a good realistic plan you can be successful, but mining is not a get rich program, its more of a slow and steady.

I personally dont get it, you have already your research on what coin you will mined and come with a costings yet you dont know if its worth it. Anyways, just do the simple math..lot of online mining calculators out there, consider difficulty as it varies from time to time that could affect your profitability

You need to be very lucky , if u can hold the mined coin for longer period of time, profit is there..!!! We are mining using crowd funding for last 6 yrs..most of the time we make good amount ..!!!

i think its still worth if you want to mining as you have solar energy to produce the electricity which is the important thing to mining and if you can handle the electricity fee then you are good to continue. i suggest you to buy the hardware like L3 or D3 from bitmain and don't try to mining bitcoin because its not worth unless your hardware is the newest hardware. with L3 or D3, you can mining scrypt algorythm and x11 algorythm which there is many coins you can mining.

Profitability is a relative term and you can take it in many ways. Apart from that you should only invest the money in mining if you can afford to loose it. Having said that, mining is profitable if your strategy is right. If you are looking for ROI only then you would get frustrated pretty soon. Take this as a bait and keep working with it and at the end of the day you might get your reward.

Talking about strategy, do a little bit research on most trustworthy mineable altcoins. Don't just look for most profitable coin to mine. There are lots of variable. The coin with less valuation today might get a sudden bump and fly high next day. So, a lot of opportunity out there. Just hold until you have the moment and your ROI could be less than 6 months.

You may find may top altcoins in the list which is suitable for mining, you can choose one among them dude. Your income will increase than you can make vertcoin. IF do mining with the shitcoins you will get the coins more than you expect the amount comparison in usd or btc will lesser than anything in future as well.
If you can able to take solar energy do mining you can direct start mining bitcoin.

what i learned in few months cryptomining?
-i´ve build a rig to mine ether...last time i mined ether is 3months ago, believe me you wont stick all the time on vert

-i would not start with a small rig again, because you will see all the time how many money you are NOT earning Cheesy
my suggestion if u have the money

build 1 amd rig 6-8 cards - vega or rx 580
build 1 nvidia rig 6-8 cards 1060/1070/1080

some coins are better mineable on amd some on nvidia,
do research how to mod bios, how to config different miners...yeah cryptomining never gets boring, everyday something new

conclusion -> easy to start, hard to master
