I am a bitcoin newbie and first got a wallet at bitcoin.info. I would like now to import my wallet to Electrum (Mac), but it doesn't work.

I followed these instructions (which are obviously a bit dated). https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=594570.0

I copied my private key at Blockhain and added it via "Import private keys" at Electrum in a new wallet. Under "Addresses" there is now a new Bitcoin address with this key. But my Bitcoin account in Electrum is still empty, the import probably did not work. (The network is green, so that seems to be correct).

Does anyone have an idea what went wrong?

Limited in number. Limitless in potential.

Seems you imported a different private key on electrum since you mentioned that there's now a new bitcoin address on the electrum app. Try to double check your private keys on the blockchain.info wallet. And then import it again to the electrum wallet.

EDIT 1: Try to open electrum app>New/Restore(choose name)>Standard wallet>Use public or private keys>(paste the private keys) then your ready to go.

EDIT 2: My apology the edited above doesn't work, maybe you can double check the private keys instead.

How did you export your private keys on blockchain.info? As the above guy have stated^^. There must have been a mistake.

Anyways, Correct me if I'm wrong but even on mac you should be able to import it on electrum just by using your recovery phrase on blockchain.info.
Just click the options button and tick the BIP39 Seed box when you are prompted to enter the seed.

Thanks for your quick answers. I just copied and pasted my private key from my Blackchain-Account (in the base58-format), but you are right the address that is added to my Electrum-Wallet is not mine.

Where should I click the options-Button? In Electrum?

Ah, I think I know what you mean. I installed a new Electron version and at the start the app asks me about my recovery phrase and I can click the options button and the BIP39-Seed box. But even if I enter my Blockchain-recovery phrase here, my bitcoin address is not imported. But know I cannot import a private key anymore, the option ist just missing in the electrum-menu.

Are you using Electrum 3.0? There is a option in the first step "Import Bitcoin addresses or private keys".

Try to follow this guide with your Blockchain private key:

Well, it seems like you're right. I checked my blockchain.info wallet which have some imported addresses and the private keys doesn't have checksum which is really odd.

You can convert it by using casascius' bitcoin address utility (wiki, download link), follow these steps:
1. Open 'Address > Enter an address/key' and enter blockchain.info's WIF key.
2. Copy the hex private key of the address that was added (view its details by right clicking it).
3. Open 'Tools > Base58 calculator' and enter the copied hex.
4. Go to 'Mode > Use Checksum' and make sure that it's checked and copy the base58 result.
5. Same as step 1 but enter the result from 4 instead.
6. Now your real address should be added. Just view the details and copy the WIF private key and import it to electrum.

Might want to wait few hours before doing this to let other users view this post. I'm pretty sure it's safe but just in case.

You can transfer or use your blockchain wallet to Electrum with wallet seeds. Go to your blockchain wallet settings there you can get wallet seeds which will be 12 random words and write it down. Then create new wallet on Electrum then write the wallet seeds and select BIP39. You can use same wallet with blockchain and Electrum.

I did exactly that (with Electron 3.0). I enter my seed, no error, and then Electron opens the wallet and... nothing happens. My balance is 0 BTC. Do I have to wait, till it imports my bitcoins? (The network is green)

Are you sure that your blockchain.info account have bitcoins in it and the addresses which hold them is not watch only? If you are trying to transfer a watch only address then it is not possible as you don't hold private key of that address.

Please post an Image link here(Use snipping tool or print screen button):
Log in to your blockchain account then go to Settings --> Address and take a screenshot of the address which have all the bitcoins and post that here using an imgur.com link.

Yes, I'm sure that I have bitcoins in that blockchain-account and it's not watch only, because I have already received and sent money from there.

But I thanks for putting me in the right direction: The address where I got the BTCs  in my Blockchain-Account is an "imported address", as I got my BTC in another wallet before. Could that be part of the problem?

UPDATE: Thats it, thanks! I transferred the BTC form the "imported address" into my wallet. And there they are in Electron. Great! Can I delete my Blockchain-Wallet no without loosing the BTC in my Electrum-Wallet?

If the balance is visible to you in electrum than yes you can delete that blockchain wallet if possible for you. But don't forget to secure that 12 words wallet passphrase before doing that as it will be needed in future, in case any mishappening to your system.
