Hi all,

To my concern i saw that we could look-up members via an email adress. I think this is a bad thing due to the fact that if an email adress is hacked on another site, you could simply search if that email adress has an account here on bitcoin talk and use the same password (in the example people use the same password for mail and their bitcoin talk account).

Is there any use case where searching via email adress is a good thing?

Afaik, if it's hidden then automatically the account associated with that email address would not show up. Try to experiment if it is.

Friendly advice: you should have different passwords. Same passwords have a tendency to compromise all of the other accounts you have in various websites like you said.
