The amount of shills and trolls have become such a widespread problem I seem to be wasting most of my time reading them then ignoring them after finding nothing worth the read.

I used to spend alot of my time freely helping n00bs but the greatest influx is nothing more than fud and Shills with the very rare actual N00b that has amply resources to receive help.

So I would just like to have n00bs auto ignored and options for all levels should be just as easy to add in preferences although I don't know why people would want to ignore higher levels unless they were just shills and fudders playing off each other as I've noticed they just ignore the responses from more knowledgeable members and continue their shtick after quoiting on of the other n00d shill/fudder. accounts.

The ICO craze on ETH seems to have just blown this so out of proportion the board is becoming unmanageable in many threads, when your reading a thread and over half the posts are on your ignore list there is a problem with the system.

I thought of posting this in this thread after a search

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=736525.0

But this really is a different request although I think both are valid.

Sadly this forum has mostly become unusable for it's intended purpose. ICO campaigns and the (largely) South East Asian shitposters they pay to spam or copy and paste whatever rubbish they can be bothered to churn out have ruined this forum. Also, because we have a system where the only way you can gain rank and a bigger signature is to make hundreds of posts you have countless users just shitposting as fast as they can over multiple accounts to try hit the required rank. I wouldn't be against what you suggested being implemented and I have suggested something similar that people with self-moderated threads can choose to restrict it by whatever memberclass they choose. However, with your request I think you're forgetting newbies quite quickly become Juniors and then Members etc so it will be largely useless and that's why the problems here are much more complex than just ranks.

True True, But afa the bolded goes, just weeding those posts out will significantly lower the noise level. The shills and scammers get found out and tagged pretty regularly so by the time they get to the higher ranks at least they tend to create coherent posts.

But not always. Cheesy

I've noticed a bit of an influx these last few days of new users pasting utterly irrelevant tripe about anything into almost every thread I'm following, always posting short meaningless statements and never responding. We could do with some blocking feature for these types of users.

Yep.  I am thinking that with coins now over 7 thousand folks are lurking and eventually start posting junk.  I have friends asking about BTC because its in the news all the time now.  That is a good thing but the lurkers follow the excitement.
