Playing with KnC's order system I get this message:

Sam said recently that they will just manufacture and ship hundreds of units per day, so even if you are not in the "first 500" Jupiters you will get your units in September. He also said they are not producing "closed batches", just manufacturing and shipping sequentially following the order backlog. But it looks to me they are indeed making batches, as there are only 1,487 Jupiter left to be ordered in their system.

We have people in here that is very close to them. Does anybody knows how many TH/s are they planning to ship and deploy from September to December 2013?

This is crucial information in order to be able to calculate ROI.

Doesn't matter, their device use 28nm technology, the electricity cost is much more favorable than competitors, it will only be treatened by ASICs with even more advanced technology, and those are not readily available for at least one year

Source? I remind you that a couple of months ago all the ASIC vendors said that 28nm chips for BTC mining were impossible by this year. In fact, many of them keep saying that KnC is overpromising.

Currently that's only their perception, and KnC's perception.

What matter's is proof, and we all have to wait three months for that...

I don't think it is just a pure promise, but there might be delays

It looks like the number of available Jupiters goes up instead of down:

About Saturn:

BTW: anybody knows what are the grey numbers just by the name of the units (250 for Jupiter; 34 for Saturn)?

I wouldn't put any thought into the "Available" number on their website.  It's just a number they plug into their database.  If the over-order, they'll likely just refund people.

The grey number is the units' SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). The identifier companies use for products to keep track of what the hell people are actually ordering is.

I've not been paying much attention lately, has KNC put out numbers on power usage? Don't see it on the homepage. 350GH/sec would be like 1400W at 4W/GH already (close to a full 15A 104v breaker).

I also don't expect even if 1787 were somehow the "batch" they were producing that they'd run out.

Maximum of 1000W for the Jupiter and 500W for the Saturn is what they have on their website.

Ah I see it on the homepage now, thanks. That just makes me even more skeptical but we shall see. Good times if they can deliver.

I've heard very little about KNC. Are they using 28nm FPGAs, and then selling hardcopys later next year? How do we know they're 100% legit? When I first heard about them, I thought they were another BitcoinTalk-scam-of-the-week.

Tips? 1crazy8pMqgwJ7tX7ZPZmyPwFbc6xZKM9

>make up ASIC
>promise next gen performance at lower price
>get hype (like special 'golden ticket' wait list)
>???
>profit!

If you thought BFL was bad, wait until you see KNC.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

So far KNC has had reasonable answers to every question asked of them.
We know exactly who is involved in their engineering efforts.  https://www.kncminer.com/pages/aboutus
KNC met their first milestone early and with higher performance than the target.
They are partnered with a real ASIC design company that has a proven track record.

These are not guarantees of success, but at least we know what we are dealing with. IMO If they fail it will be due to engineering mistakes, not from scamming their customers.
