With all the new altcoins created in a short time, some died by lack of support and others were "killed" by 51% attacks.

There are people holding a lot of BTC / LTC and they don't like the other altcoins taking away market volume, value and profit.
They will do anything in their power to kill the other alts.

If you don't want this to happen, go back mining your favorite altcoin and don't look at CoinChoose for "highest profitability".
Mining the "highest profitability coin" is nice for the short term thinker but focuses a lot of hashingpower at one coin, making the other coins vulnerable.

So if you want your coin to survive, keep mining it.
Else, don't be suprised if your >20k of XYCoins become worthless soon...

People need to find loyalty and forget greed.

In my spare time i'm going to be working on a variation of the cryptoswitcher code that will automaticly mine the coin most vulnerable to attacks. Like coins crippled by flash mining, and these 51% attack.

I always have some mining power at low diff coins I support Smiley

People need to find loyalty and forget greed.

Either you are very young, very old, very naive - or very hypocrite. Or all of it.

Or you are from the past and found a way to post into the future:

well i don't think that people have favorite altcoins.
Favorite food , or color maybe but crypto coins are all about surving a purpose.

Or he's from Berkeley or Santa Cruz, where a fellow like that would fit right in.

On topic: Wholeheartedly agree with the OP. All these "help you mine the most profitable coin" charts help contribute to wild swings in difficulty across the altchains. I don't want to bash them with a hammer (since miners have to pay the bills somehow) but it would be excellent to see more dedicated hashing power in the most useful altchains.

Read "favorite" as the one you believe to most in (or said otherwise "which as the most potential" in your opinion).

By the way, mining blindly is not enough, because if most of the legitimate hashpower is scattered on a few pools, DOSing them is relatively easy and the coin is not protected.
Ideally, solo mining is probably better for the security ... but even so, finding the miners and DOSing them is not really difficult, especially if there are not many of them to begin with.

That's right, I always setup multiple pools and solo-mining as a "last resort". With CGMiner it's easy to setup failovers, not only to protect the coin but also to prevent your miners from staying idle when a pool goes down, for whatever reason Smiley

I don't want to tell anyone what to do, but looking at the attacks (to come) on some altcoins, the only way to protect a coin is by mining it with massive hashrate.

When we had only a handfull of altcoins, it was easy to keep enough hashingpower on a coin to prevent it from being attacked but now every coin is taking a smaller piece of the hashingrate-pie...
