After 70-80 degrees my cards slow down. This is at 300 mem and default core clocks.

5850 and 6970 both do it (on different machines, linux and windows)? Is it me or am i paranoid or something?

Merged mining, free SMS notifications, PayPal payout and much more.

It protects the core from damage.

On a 6990, I noticed the cards will throttle down a lot after 99 celsius.
Had to buy some extra fans despite the card being in a well-ventilated datacenter..

Advice: Do not sandwich multiple 69xx cards next to one another without really good cooling

It's a feature in the driver meant to protect the card.
