For ERC20 it is better to use myetherwallet and for others try using coinomi. They are the best
Well i agree with you myetherwallet and coinomi is the best wallet we can use for our altcoins, and cryptonator is one of the best wallet also for altcoins because it multicurrency wallet, but myetherwallet is the most used wallet for me for altcoins.

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?

If the altcoin is support Erc20 then the anwer is myetherwallet. I have good experience with this kind of wallet.
But the only you have to make sure is when you put your key make sure you dont type phising link.

myetherwallet is a good option if you want to store your coins, but you are going to have a trezor or a ledger nano to store them if you want to be safe and if you are very insecure with your funds.
anyway, if you want to have a free wallet without having to pay a pennie, then use electrum, you can store some altcoins in there without the need of having a trezor or a ledger nano.
probably myetherwallet is your best option if you are looking to hold erc20 tokens.

You should use only Myetherwallet or Exodus - the combination of them is perfect.

There are many portfolios for altcoins but the best is myetherwallet. It is too famous and most people use it.And then you can convert these tokens to ETH.You can also store ERC20 token in the myetherwallet. And it's very secure wallet. But I suggest you never share your private key with anyone. If you want to store your bitcoin, I suggest you Blockchain info. It is the oldest online wallet for bitcoin and the most popular.

For Erc20 compatible tokens Im better with imToken.  Not only very easy to use but coins can automatically be added without additional  job for you.  You can also create additional addresses in one application.

So far for me MYETHERWALLET is the very secured. Theres a lot of people here that use MEW. Well basically because you can store any coin you have in MEW. Plus it is easy to use with user-friendly environment. I recommend that you should use MEW. Just be aware for giving out you account details. PRIVATE KEY and ADDRESS KEY is different from each other. You should give address key not your PRIVATE KEY. Thats the common mistake that people do. They giving out their PRIVATE KEY instead of ADDRESS KEY. And also be sure about the URL. And be aware of phishing sites. myetherwallet.com is their correct address. Goodluck mate!

As you said my ether wallet is the best wallet for altcoin any coins or tokens can be stored on this wallet and it is very useful to use the important thing is that we have to keep the private key securely.
Hardware wallets also very good we can store any coins into that and it will be totally secured no worry about the hackers or something. But hardware wallets are not free so you have to buy it.But it is worth to buy an hardware wallet.

myetherwallet that I think is enough because it is also easy how to use it, but it also has the deficiency of the hacked exposed range etcetera.

There are some risks, when you hold your coins in one multi-wallet like Jaxx or Coinomi.

better use hardware wallets like trezor and ledger nano to store some differnet coins. This is more secure but will cost you money (100 $) + this does not hold all the coins.

I think Myetherwallet is the best decision to choice wallet for altcoin. It is ERC20 based supported wallet. On the other side, you can use jaxx wallet for altcoin. But be sure to create wallet on right place and right link. Because there are many scam wallet that looks like same as legit wallet site.

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?
Depends on what altcoins you hold. I prefer hardware wallets. The Ledger Nano supports some altcoins like UBIQ, Ripple or Komodo. You should not store altcoins on exchanges.

As I think Trezor will be the safest variant. I know these cute devices you have keep with you or where you want now support many altcoins. Also I have found interesting information that might be helpful for you
