talking about the wallet, there are some things to be attention especially  the function of alt itself. namely as follows:
if your alt type the erc20, you could use myetherwallet to store your token or you could use   the hardware wallet like ledger.  Wink

Other altcoins supported with different wallets like nano wallet waves wallet myethwallet.

myetherwallet is the only one which contains Eth and also smart tokens.  Rest for each coin there is a dedicated wallet for that which you can download from that particular coin site. I think some one should come up with an initiative so merge all the coins in a single wallet. If this happens ever,  it will be great and safe us from the hassle for  downloading all sorts of wallets for each coin.

I personally use Myetherwallet for Ethereum coins.
I love. It can be used for all coins based on Ethereum.

Physical wallets are really meeting the needs of community, I agree. I also use parity for my erc20 token storage. It's good and nobody knows your private keys, which means you're on the seat for your coins.

It's better to put each altcoin in its proper wallet. You can use Jaxx to store Bitcoin, Ethereum and many altcoins but fees are high comparing to other wallets.

each altcoin has their own wallet. It is very risky to use an online wallet which contains many types of cryptocurrencies inside. Therefore, you need to learn about the altcoin that you are holding in order to know which wallet is suitable for your coins

None of the above

I can advise a good wallet - myetherwallet. Very convenient and popular. You can store all coins of the ERC20 standard.

There are lots of wallets for storing altcoins but I am using myetherwallet to store my ERC20 tokens. It is a good storage for altcoins because it is fast user friendly site which can be used anytime and anywhere just be careful from phishers because it is prone to phishers. Our security is on our own hands so we need to be careful on different sites we are going to enter. We need to keep our private keys in a safe place. Even myetherwallet is prone to phishers I am still using it and will use it because it is a nice wallet for storing my altcoins.

I advise you to go to official website of the coins/tokens you keep. They have probably some advises about wallet.
For ethereum based tokens i use myetherwallet, it is very easy to use.
For waves based tokens i use mobile application of waves wallet. It is also very simple one.

100% agreed with both. Exodus works fantastic, it looks nice, it's easy to use and you can store loads of different altcoins in it. It's the only crypto-related software I've never had any issues with. Also desktop wallet is more secure than online wallet.

When I open myetherwallet website I want to vomit.

For more serious investments ledger nano for sure. It supports the most popular alts too and adds the security needed. Doesn't make sense if your whole portfolio is worth 100$ but if it's 1000$ or more I'd buy it.
