CPU Mining

I understand that CPU mining of bitcoins is simply not profitable at the current difficulty level. Primarily for this reason, Con Kolivas removed CPU mining from 'cgminer'.  However, some of the other alt-cryptocurrencies have much lower difficulties, and for the purpose of learning, not everyone has high-end GPU cards or ASIC or FPGA's. My question is, what is the last version of cgminer that does CPU mining, and where can it be found ?

I haven't done the math, but I presume that the cost of electricity is greater than the value of coins mined.

CPU mining is unfortuanetly not very efficient when compared to asics
