Ethereum , is it the future ?

Since 2013 , the price of Bitcoin still increasing until it has passed 7k $ . i'm thinking about the Ethereum and it could be the same scenario like bitcoin after 2 or 3 years . is it possible ?

The possibilty is less that ETH could follow the path of bitcoin like hitting the $7,000 too because there are already lot of altcoins to choose from and bitcoin is the strongest challenge in which people are already build the trust and the reputation of their investments. If just happen that ETH was the first to be created as 1st digital coin then it will be the ETH is the one with $7K value right now. But at least ETH is the lead of all altcoins that is why there is a less possibility but less is better than none.

Sure, it's possible, especially because strong fundamentals (as we see in Bitcoin) aren't even necessary to achieve that. Really all that is required is a perfect storm of market sentiment and hype.

Having said that, I think it's one of the more ambitious and innovative projects in cryptocurrency. Yes, it's considerably more centralized than Bitcoin, and it has major scalability problems. But I think it will draw more application-level developer talent than other networks, given it's position on the cutting edge of this sector. And I think it will continue to receive a lot of the hype.

Speculatively, a lot depends on the viability of proof-of-stake and sharding. I'm not fully convinced in either case, but I think the core team is fairly prolific, and I'm exciting to see what they produce. In the long run, my portfolio tends towards BTC, but I believe that ETH will provide opportunities in the next few years to increase that BTC stash.

Keep in mind the world has 9 billion people, so there is room many many many options and variations of coinage.

I was all ready to buy another bitcoin, but when it hit $7500 I observed that ETH was at a 90 day low... I bought some ETH instead of BTC.

I am sure, ethereum and bitcoin will go together towards the future. all this time, ethereum has survived all this time, and has been used in many companies. I am so sure that ethereum will be a rival for bitcoin.

I think ethereum and bitcoin are not rivals but ideal pairs, because the system of them can complement each other.
bitcoin is intended as a means of payment, whilst ethereum as a smart contract. therefore, they will both be a good match.

Vitalik Buterin has announced the vision of Ethereum in 3-4 years. He will develop a technology called "sharding". I hope that, with new technology, ETH will rise up in the future.

lets see.
bitcoin has real usage mostly as a currency and is adopted by real world businesses not virtual fake ones. the shops like restaurants, coffee shops, all other kinds are actually accepting bitcoin as a real money.
ethereum is not a currency and it has no usage apart from creation of ICO! which is not going to last that long since all the countries are banning ICOs these days. and it is not the only altcoin that can do this and it is not even the best one that can do this

bitcoin has a limited supply. and currently there is small amount of it available.
ethereum is limitless. it is all about supply and demand! and currently there is a huge amount of it available.

so no, i say ETH can never rise that big, specially in 2 or 3 years it will be back to $10 because by that time there will be at least 10 billion ethereum available. you can see what happened to Dogecoin with unlimited supply (it is worth 16 satoshi now)

- ETH has $300 value, and $28,741,427,779 market cap
- BTC has $7200 value, and $120,091,832,356 market cap

--> 20x more value, but 4,5x more market cap

There are much more circulating supply for ETH than for BTC (95,573,154 ETH / 16,667,800 BTC)

So ETH will NEVER reach 7000$ in my opinion : it would mean that ETH Market Cap is 5000 billion $. Much too high !

This is a very good question. Smart Contract. We have seeing this technical terms around ETH but has anyone really implement it and becomes successful? Its like this one is for the future however, I do believed that it hasn't gain the much attention from developers to used and implement it. If someone, just one company will proved its usefulness and hype it around then I guess ETH will really gain and the price could pick up around $1000 or more down the line.

Yes, there are also many coins based on eth. So this will add support to eth and it will increase in his price. This also adds more users knowing ETH so they will also begin to use it.

It is possible for ether to have market cap around 120 billions (market cap of btc now) in 3-4 years. Then it would worth around 1200$. You can't compare prices of those coins directly because there is 5-6 more ether then btc. If ether price will be 7000$ it's market cap should be around 600-700 billions.
