Yeah, bitcoin.ie is no more. Theres quite a few irish involved in bitcoin. But afaik there has never been a meetup or anything. We need to draw up a list of irish businesses and lobby them to accept bitcoin payment. Im thinking Kennys bookstore does a lot of online business and would be a good candidate.

Hi lads,
I have shut down the Irish forum, because there was no interest whatsoever for months. All we were getting was myriads spammers.
Would anyone be interested in giving me a hand with an Irish website and forum?

Would anyone be interested in giving me a hand with an Irish website and forum? Yeah, I could give you a hand. But is the community big enough to require a dedicated forum? Even the UK Bitcoin forum run by Vladimir, seems dead most of the time. Why not just use this thread for Irish stuff?

Sure, fair point. I haven't been involved in here for the last year or so, thus I don' really know how popular (if at all) Bitcoin got in Ireland. Judging by your nick, BitcoinTraderIE, you probably have a better idea.

Sure, fair point. I haven't been involved in here for the last year or so, thus I don' really know how popular (if at all) Bitcoin got in Ireland. IMO bitcoin is very popular in Ireland, relatively speaking. But Id like to see us capitalise on that, and take it to the next level. I want to expand the userbase in Ireland. Im particularly interested in getting businesses to accept it. I myself have approached numerous online businesses and donation accepting sites, and suggested that they accept btc payment. None of them have take up the idea. Ive stopped promoting bitcoin since then, because Ive got other things going on but I hope to resume my marketing activities around the end of this year.

Same here, I just got fed up with lack of response and interest. I was nearly banned from boards.ie for mentioning bitcoin, they closed the thread and said it was a "Pyramid scheme". Similar kind of thing happened to my friend April. Would be great if we could organise some sort of a meet-up and see how many and what kind of people are really diggin' it. I live around Wexford and I am open to any suggestions, can travel to Dublin or Cork no problem. Where are you guys from?

I'm not in Ireland, but I do have a suggestion for an Irish business to approach about bitcoin. I sometimes trade at a site called Intrade. They run a prediction market using fiat currencies. Bitcoin would work so well for them, It's a natural fit. Check em out. http://intrade.com

Another Irish here. I know there are others around too on the forum but haven't met any IRL. As a matter of curiosity, does anyone know anything about https://www.bitcoin247.com/en. They seem to do the payments for Switchpoker and claim to be based in Ballsbridge.

It's a nice idea, how many are there around the country. I can't commit to anything at the moment, maybe earlier next year I could attend one.
