How do you measure altcoin value? Do you measure it in terms of bitcoin, or in terms of USD? Which is more important to you?
Asking this because, one can have huge profit in terms of USD in alts and at the same time, a huge loss in terms of bitcoin. So which one is it for you? Especially in trading of course.

Usually, altcoin value is measured in bitcoin and it is priced in bitcoin. Most people don't really buy altcoins as an investment unlike bitcoin. They just buy altcoins so that if altcoin price increases, their bitcoin value would increase when it is sold for bitcoin. For this reason only, many bitcoin holders sell their bitcoins when its value decreases and buy altcoins as its value increases and in turn sell their altcoins when once again, bitcoin value increases. Hope that its clear now.

Measure it with both BTC and USD and compare to see which is more profitable when you make a move. It makes much more sense to consider how much you have cashed in in terms of USD and how much you're profiting/loss in USD

To measure to bitcoin something that is not traded relative to the USD. If you are a real cryptoanarchist, then the ultimate goal is to get more of the BTC, multiply it. In the end, bitcoin can be very expensive.

always in terms of bitcoin because if i do so i will be making twice the profit that i can make because i make profit on the bitcoin i invest and then bitcoin price rises in USD and i make another profit there too. and when i check the volume of different markets it seems to me like the alt/BTC market has a lot more volume than the alt/USD market so i guess most people are the same. Asking this because, one can have huge profit in terms of USD in alts and at the same time, a huge loss in terms of bitcoin. So which one is it for you? Especially in trading of course.
actually you are missing out on bitcoin rise if you think like that so you are in fact losing money. for example bitcoin goes up from $5000 to $7000 but the altcoin keeps the price at $200 and at best goes to $210 so you kept your fiat's worth but you missed out on the bitcoin rise so you lost money in fact by holding the altcoin.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip. Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Personally, I measure it in terms of bitcoins. I don't know I guess I can easily convert it to USD in my mind if I want to. Its gonna its gonna be easy for me to just used bitcoin. And of course we are trading bitcoin and altcoins so it is much better if we just do it on crypto currency conversion and not to fiat such as USD and EURO.

I generally measure value of use, community support, development success and speed, and market depth. I tend to use usd price as bitcoin price is also measured with usd.

I measure altcoins in usd because usually if we measure new coins in bitcoin, this seem to have equal to a very little fraction of bitcoin. It is confusing sometimes to measure a low value coin like $0.01 in bitcoin. Also it will hold me back in processing investments to such a distracted coin. I especially use litecoin, ethereum, bitcoin for trading, these are major coins in the market

It depends on your goal. If you are looking to invest long term, I would focus more on USD value. Bitcoin is another cryptocurrency and is fluctuating too much

For me it's easy to measure the price of altcoin thru btc although USD it's quiet ok for me. But still depend on you goal and what you think is more useful for you, altcoins are so valuable since it's a cryptocurrency and i think no matter what you prefer for always be profitable on your trading pattern.

If I have bitcoin bought when its USD value was less than 1000USD and if this is the bitcoin that i am investing to buy alts then i consider the btc value, but if i have to put in new btc to buy alts then USD value.

I am always measure the altcoin value in the terms of usd because the main reason of investing in crypto currency is getting the high returns in future if you get high returns in altcoin no need to worry about its price decreased in bitcoin. In terms are trading also measuring in usd is better because trading in coin to fiat which gives more profit than coin to other coin so be wise and get high profits.

I always measure in terms of BTC value. That being said, sometime I do have to account for rise or fall of BTC value. I suppose it really depends on if you are a traders or investor

Its better to use Dollars than satoshis as again you have to convert them in $$. Also if the $$ to btc price rises it will be hard to come to a conclusion that you are in profit or loss.
