In terms of efficiency, that is hashrate per kilowatt-hour, which GPU is the best?
Has anyone tried the new Radeon RX Vega 64?

Haven't done any mining but I might invest some on a mining rig although I might mine an altcoin and not bitcoin.

Oh really? I thought it should be Hardware Section. What's the proper section? Mining?

What is the difference between buying a GPU to mine and one of the Miners (D3, L3, S9) etc? Moneywise in USD, sorry this might be a noob question, I just am getting started and trying to gain knowledge! Thanks.

(D3, L3, S9) are not GPU miners, they are ASIC miners, every altcoin has ASIC miners, they just wouldn't tell you. idiots are buying GPU to mine coins while tech companies are mining with ASIC.

Thanks Tesorex for clearing that up! Makes sense why everyone is trying to mine with GPU, but the big boys are using the ASIC miners. The thing that I am worried about is that people are buying them up like crazy, will the value depreciate (Example: D3 miner, I heard its going to take a long time for people to just make back their money and they are asking for refunds now). Therefore, making mining almost not worth it for the average user at home. Curious about your thoughts.

The answer is "it depends on what algorithm(s) you intend to mine".

And as a hint, not all "big" mining operations are ASIC-specific - again, it depends on the algorithm.

Big GPU-based mining operations tend to be smaller scale than big Bitcoin based ones since they don't NEED to be as big just to compete for the same % share of available coins....

In my opnion 1080ti is the best and most efficent gpu in terms of performance/wattage buts it is really inefficient interma of cost to performance better to buy two 1070 or 480s in same price and get better hahsrate but 1080 ti build provide u good density and anyway they are the best gpus for gaming currently available and they will still stand their ground against next gen card and hence price fall wont be that much.

Depends on your goals.  RX570,RX580 are really good on cost per performance.   Nvidia 1070 seem to be the second best when it comes to cost for performance.   If you just want to buy the most powerful miner today the 1080 ti is good, but I prefer $285 range for 30Mh/s vs $450 for a little more power efficiency.

1080ti is one of the best, can easily go 4+sol/w.

Other pros - very powerful, saves you space and money on other components (mobo, cpu, RAM, risers etc), very good aftermarket sale potential
Cons - quite expensive

and what exactly would you mine today with a 1080 ti, considering hash rate and long term stability of the mined coin,

anything beating Zcash ?..

ZEN has been pretty consistantly beating ZCash this month - but usually by a very small amount.
Everything else that has bounced above ZCash profitability so far this month has only been there for a day or two at a time, then fall back down again.

GTX 1070 ti is a little more efficient even at the SYSTEM level on both hash/watt and hash/$ than the GTX 1080 ti at the most efficient point for each card - but it's close, really can't go wrong with either option.

Have the AMD Vega cards not a better Hashrate and a lower power as NVIDIA and the other AMD Rx cards?
