There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

You do realize that you bumped a thread from 2011 right? Necro'd for re-relevance. $1,000 isn't out the question by Jan 1st, and the OP didn't specify a year... I remember when everyone was certain the rise to $4,000 - $5,000 would come by the end of this year. Amazing how much sentiment has changed... |

I can theoretically see Bitcoin at $1000+ by Jan 1, 2015. That would be the "wet dream" scenario. But as far as next Jan is concerned, I'd be surprised if we are $5+.
I don't think the thread is very funny, btw.

Not everyone. And during April 2013 some were sure that price will rise to 10k$ soon, during December 2013 more were sure it will rise to 40k$ soon. The OP implied January 2012, and he was very wrong. Just like those who now still believe it will rise to 5k$ by 1st January 2015. |

There is not enough spark of Interest or Need, from those outside of the Crypto-currency community.

You correctly predicted the Need and spark of interest that drove previous bubbles, right? Wait.. I'm just voicing my opinion. I'm not trying to convince anyone to believe that my predictions are accurate. Were all of your previous predictions correct? I simply don't see a very urgent need for most people to switch to using Bitcoins very soon. A lot of infrastructure still needs to be put in place. It is still quite difficult for the average person to even be able to purchase Bitcoins for use, in the first place. I am not saying that I think Bitcoins will be a Failure.
I strongly believe that Bitcoins will be the "Future"; I think that is inevitable at this point. I just don't think that the price of Bitcoins will stabilize over $1000 USD in the year 2015. |

You have to think that we can not decide price of Bitcoin. Many people (me too) thought that bitcoin price in this period must be of 7-800$ and price now is 380$. So, don't hope that in 1Jan price will be 1000$. Anyway I think that price will move up to 1000-3000$ by 2016 years.

Just to make a point -
$1,000 seemed high only six years ago.
$10,000 seems high now.
When it hits $20,000 that will seem high too.
Until $50,000 ...
BTC is designed, and expected, to increase in price for ever,
it's fundamentals are sound, and the chance of everyone suddenly changing their minds is essentially zero.
It doesn't have to crash,
it may not crash,
I don't think it will ever crash.
