This summer we built a shed for our mining GPUs. We hit a major milestone of filling it up 50% full of 192 AMD GPUs in September sometime. We have since ordered some S9s, and L3+s, which are coming at the end of November. So our plan for the unused section of the shed are to fill with it ASICs until we reach our power limit, adding capacity every month.

Here you can see the wall of 7 cheap box fans. Surprisingly, this was sufficient enough to keep the rigs cooled during this summer in the Houston heat. However, the section on the right gets a lot more sun (and i never finished insulating that part) and is much hotter than the rest. My concerns are for the incoming ASICs.

Here is the massive wall of rigs! Pretty sick right?! Grin

Next post for ASIC section  Shocked

Here you can see the other side of the shed is virgin, untouched! We need to poke some holes in there.  Wink

We have a blank slate in which to design! The wiring is ready to go. We just need to add some fans before the ASICs show up around Thanksgiving! We have 4 coming this month, and 4 more coming in December.

You can see the the studs are placed 20" apart. Originally we we planning on putting cheapo box fans there for more ETH rigs, but plans have changed. The cheopo fans are good enough for rigs, but not the Antminers.

So, I would appreciate any suggestions!

Looks a very nice setup, I feel with the ventilation, you need the cool air coming in from bottom and warm air venting from top outwards, would be more efficient and cooler this way. Just put some fans lower than the others, at bottom, on opposite side, if possible.

You guys are so lucky.

This would get shut down in Australia for so many electrical violations it wouldn't be funny, not to mention the 31c per Kw cost means its uneconomical

Hmm looks legit with no blatant code violations to me there.  Your electrical is stupid high at 31c .  I pay 7 cents in texas.

Do yourself a favor.  Dump those crap fans and buy 2-3 of these.  All I use and I run 30gh at 3 locations.  Also filter your inbound air if you want to keep your stuff somewhat clean, if not just air blow it our every couple weeks.  For sure add netting or screen on the bottom air intake as critters will hose you bad.

I got 2 of these shipped for $300. I used a coupon too.

These are awesome. The green version is amazingly efficient.

Hense, ASIC planning...

We have ordered some S9s, and L3+s, which are coming at the end of November. I am concerned about cooling these, and am looking for advise regarding the untouched side. That's where new ASICs will go.

Our regulations are stupid. We cant even run data cables in our own roof space, has to be installed by a licenced contractor.

Only code violation I see is the romex is not run in the studs and does not have conduit. I also believe the outlet right by the panel is required to be a GFCI.

But it looks good to me

Oh, i'm sure its fine in the U.S. I'm envious as we would have to get an electrician at about $120 per hour + material to wire that up for electrical and data, then bury the conduit between house and shed. Has to be 700mm down in orange conduit I believe.

I am in awe. Can you put a metal roof/siding, spaced out from the structure, to shield it from the sun?  Kind of like a pre-fab carport?  It would look like shit but it would keep the sun off your shed.

Unfortunately my HOA has strict rules about the height of sheds, must be no more than 8 feet above grade, and I am right there.

I am in awe. Can you put a metal roof/siding, spaced out from the structure, to shield it from the sun?  Kind of like a pre-fab carport?  It would look like shit but it would keep the sun off your shed.

Ha ha! OMG no... Shocked I just need to put the insulation on that part and change fans...too busy now with classes, and the temp outside has dropped. So, during Thanksgiving break, I have a lot of shit to do! Trying to prepare now.

All the electrical work was done by a master electrician. The Ethernet cables were run by me, zip ties and all  Cool
