We are Beerchain, creating the beer-based cryptocurrency Beercoin.

The beer market is a billion-dollar industry which has not seen many innovations in recent years and is currently decreasing in volume in many parts of the world. While the consumer base is shrinking a lot of new competition, in form of craft beer breweries, is trying to find a solid foothold in the market.

With our project we want to offer breweries a way to fight for their market share with the pinnacle of modern technology. Participating breweries can offer their consumers a beer, which not only tastes great, but enables the consumer to mine a cryptocurrency with it.

To help our Beercoin cryptocurrency taking off, we provide an interface to users to not only donate, but also use Beercoins to buy more beer. Besides breweries, bars and stores can participate in our project as well and consumers can therefore mine and spend Beercoins at their local favorite places.

If the cap is not scanned their will be simply no tokens send. Since the value of a single token is linked to the value a scan generates (data/ad revenue) it makes no difference for the users participating, if a code is scanned or not.

and yes it will be a unique code for every bottle.

During our time in Hamburg we participated in the Unchain pitch competition. Apart from us multiple other IT companys took part and competed agains us.

The jury consisted of Erik Voorhees (CEO Shapeshift), Tim Reheder (Earlybird VC), and Moritz Schildt (Co-founder of coinIX).

Apparently our CEO did a good job at convincing the jury of our ideas, because at the end we reached the 2nd place!
