Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find a list of bitcoin wallets which have the most bitcoins in them?

I found one a long time ago but cannot find the website anymore...

Thank you in advance!

Interesting.  How are BTC that are on exchanges balances kept track off?  Or maybe some of those larger numbers are the exchanges?

They aren't. Each exchange keeps their balance in the
way they choose. MtGox happens to stash it all on one
address.

This is in no way a measure of anyone's BTC wealth.

It is just a list of the addresses with the largest balance
attached to them, obtained by analyzing the block chain.

You could have a 1000 different addresses in your wallet
with 1000 BTC attached to it. You'd be a BTC millionaire
but wouldn't show on that list.

That's true.  But it does mean that someone has at least that many BTC (possibly more on other addresses).  It's a good measure of BTC wealth concentration.  According to bitcoinwatch.com there are currently 6,703,450 BTC in circulation.  At least 424,242.42424242 of those are on one address.  That's why I was curious about exchanges.  One address might not necessarily be tied to one person.

Is there any modern way to see the largest bitcoin wallets?  I'm just curious since I ran across http://blockchain.info/address/1FrtkNXastDoMAaorowys27AKQERxgmZjY in another thread (Instawallet Cold Storage) and saw that they have 27,689 BTC in their cold storage wallet (over 1.2 MILLION USD at the current rate!).  The link at the beginning of this thread is from 2011.

Yes, there are plenty of threads that keep a list of the top BTC addresses, use the search... I'm too lazy to do it for you, all these noobs need to start learning how to search for stuff themselves.

That's how I found this thread - by searching.

Besides, threads would get stale (or be a PITA to update constantly!).  I was hoping there was a live site like blockchain.info out there that would show the largest addresses automatically.

I guess that means I do have to do the search for you:

And yes, its updated "often". The list doesn't change much anyways.
